Or "Tenement Yard" vs. "Cassandra" vs. "Westbound Train"?
A ridiculous # of great songs.

it's been 5 years since I've seen it, but I think he didn't have dreads. when he performed he was sitting down, the camera was shooting up at him from an angle.

That clip is great though, thanks. Obv I could be misremembering, but I don't think he was even mic'd. Just jamming away in a cluttered room on an acoustic, very soft and subtle but gorgeous, with his talent on full display.

I've listened to 3-4 of his albums (early ones and an album from 1984) and they're all great. He has a million more! Are they all good?

afaik yes

Good to know!
He has a great voice. That album from 1984 was "Love's Gotta Hold On Me". It's a very "poppy" sound, but the songs and performance are incredible.

I bought "Sarge" unheard over the weekend and it is great group of covers. The album isn't on Spotify and Allmusic doesn't even have a track list. I'm just going to presume everything he does is good.

Love Dennis Brown but I have a question: why are there so many alternate versions of his songs? It’s frustrating when streaming trying to find the version you like.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Monday, 14 August 2023 18:28 (eight months ago) link
alternate versions were very common in Jamaica when he was recording, version/remix is pretty central to Jamaican radio & dj practice; also, I think his catalog sort of spread to various corners after he died, and he was immensely popular in Jamaica, so it paid off to offer more D.B. version. but even while he was alive versions of his albums in dub were part of his picture, it's a big part of reggae in the 70s and 80s.

The complete mess of labels/versions is why I stream reggae more than buy it. Very intimidating.

I should probably get over that.
