While there are lots of excellent tracks here, the ultimate winner for me is the one that inspired the title of the poll.

Big Star, barely over Cheap Trick, The Knack, The Raspberries and Flaming Groovies.

What an amazing collection. I went with "Shake Some Action." Honorable mentions to the Records and Bram Tchaikovsky.

Great comp - I voted for the Shoes, but it could have been almost every song in the album.

This is a hell of a compilation.

Shake Some Action

I'm gonna vote for the Records (over LOTS of other stuff that isn't Todd Rungren). Then I'm going to go back and pull out my copy so I can hear those Blue Ash and Fotomaker and Pezband cuts, what the hey.

I don't really like any other Big Star songs, though. And I like Flamin Groovies and Cheap Trick more than most of the bands in that top 10, but these aren't anywhere near my favorites by them.

"Yellow Pills" is so great, but "Go All the Way" actually made it to the radio on stations that didn't employ Rodney Bingenheimer. Just sayin'.

Raspberries and Badfinger were both quite popular for a very short while during the early 70s.

Just like The Knack ere for an even shorter while in the late 70s.

"Yellow Pills" and that 20/20 record have the added bonus of being produced by Earle Mankey.
