The lyrics don't spare the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who recently apologized for making crude comments about Obama. "If you said it then you meant it," intones the rapper.
Obama's campaign blasted "Politics as Usual," which is on the "Gangsta Grillz: The Preview" mixtape with Atlanta spinner DJ Drama.

Its ok for what it is, I think - a novelty song tossed off in support of a particular moment that isn't going to last. The thing I think is most hilarious about the situation is that Obama risks absolutely nothing by condemning it. The song may possibly (a long shot, I admit) get a few votes out he might otherwise have missed, but anyone convinced by it is going to be utterly unconvinced by the campaign's slam of it. What other choice would they have from a PR standpoint anyway? It's totally the best of both worlds for the campaign, and for Luda as well - he gets to support his candidate, seize he moment, and maintain outlaw cred at the same time because of the condemnation. I'm not saying they're in cahoots behind the scenes, but they may as well be - and it's such an obvious win-win that they'd hardly have to be.

Oilyrags, McCain's been hitting Obama hard on this totally nonsensical "race-card" bullshit all week, so it's not hard to see Obama's reasoning here. McCain is obviously not gonna see what's kind of funny about this song.

I completely agree! What I'm saying is that no one convinced by the song (if such a person exists - that's not at all certain, I think) is going to be convinced by the Obama campaign's disavowal.

Sure. It's a bit more of a stretch, but I also doubt that anyone convinced by the argument "don't vote for Obama - that nasty rapper likes him" would have voted for him in the first place.
