With all the early electronic guys, there's a trichotomy of music studio + mad science lab + academic formality that is so incredibly cool. That Schaeffer photo basically represents my dream job.

compare & contrast w/mayer, now there's a smug looking rictus.

Kind of interesting you should mention that, because When I saw Theo Parrish DJ in the summer, I found him to be exactly like Michael Mayer, who I saw like a month before.

I'd never heard him DJ beforehand, or otherwise really, so correct me for an shortsightedness, but he mixed just like him, doing really quick 4-16 bar fades and just working the knobs for the 8 or so minutes in between. Also, the records also kept skipping, to which Theo kept making these absolutely great ridiculous faces like he had bit into a lemon or something. Interestingly enough, more or less the same thing was the case when I saw Michael Mayer, just without the funny faces, but they seemed to take the same attitude to DJ'ing.

That's my unnecessary anecdote.
