In your own time, lads.

They had some good tunes in the 90s, none of their albums was a masterpiece, but nothing wrong with them either. Plus a festival gig they had here in 1998 or 1999 was one of the best I've ever attended.

Hating ADF today is like hating Arrested Development - too easy.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 09:54 (sixteen years ago) link

Because it's based more on hating the hype band got back then (which is justified, I guess) than the quality of the music itself.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 09:58 (sixteen years ago) link

I saw them at a festival too, in the summer of 2000. I remember enjoying them, but not enough to go buy a record or anything. That, and I'd just wandered into the tent they were playing after seeing Yo La Tengo, so I was in a pretty good mood at the time.

I refuse to move on this until we get the Senser trials out of the way.

Also I wd like one copy of "Buzzin'" to be taken into consideration.

I want my money back from that all Talvin Singh stuff I lapped up.

"I can't refund you this, it's been lapped!"

i remember reading one audience review where the womans main complaint was that they werent sexy enough.

When you're competing with Dodgy and Collapsed Lung you better be damn sure you look your best.

Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 22:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Collapsed Lung > Asian Dub Foundation > Dodgy

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 22:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Is that on music or hotness?

Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 22:11 (sixteen years ago) link

Community Music is a fucking wicked album!

Britishes Dub Foundation

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 22:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah Collapsed Lung had the better bass player. But "Buzzin'" is still a great single. Dodgy unquestionably last in either category.

In ten years, I can't wait to steal Dom's headline and replace it with "Burial"

"ten years"

I was hoping that they'd turn up to apologise for repeatedly giving Cornershop positive reviews but after the latest Morrissey outburst, I'll have to wait another fucking ten years for that now.

King Boy Pato, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 10:01 (sixteen years ago) link

adf fucking ruled dom, you cloth eared cynical piss-puddle [KISSES!]

stevie, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 10:03 (sixteen years ago) link

No they sucked, and you gave them all those 10/10 reviews that could have gone to a proper band like Urusei Yatsura.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 10:21 (sixteen years ago) link

its always either/or with you, isn't it? ADF at sheps bush 1997 (?) remains one of the best shows i've ever seen

stevie, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Shall we list all the ADF songs that are as good as "Hello Tiger" then?

Oh wait, they're aren't any.

FACE.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:32 (sixteen years ago) link

New Way New Life. Ta Deem. Riddim I LIke. To name three.

stevie, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 12:03 (sixteen years ago) link

never listened to ADF but i liked how critical Chandrasonic was of bands like Travis in an NME round-table thing back in '99.

still like that DJ Scud remix of FunDaMental tho

blueski, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 12:06 (sixteen years ago) link

proper band like Urusei Yatsura.

ROFL, and I quite like Urusei too.

Can't see why the hate for ADF, what they did they did very well, the singles were good, they were great when I saw them live, and I also saw them do a live soundtrack to La Haine which was excellent.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 12:18 (sixteen years ago) link

The actual soundtrack to Le Haine's great enough as it is, that SupremeNTM track still kills it.

own3d!

I thought ADF were pretty good, but the hype they got was ridiculous at the time.
