when is Ed's solo record out?

Simon H., Friday, 29 August 2008 04:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Thom sure reminded me of some Ian Curtis dance moves for a bit there...

Bimble, Friday, 29 August 2008 04:58 (fifteen years ago) link

Somehow ending on some roadies and Flight of the Conchords seems apt.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 29 August 2008 04:59 (fifteen years ago) link

haha yeah. If you want me to..

I know it's a little bit late for a reply, but, yeah, I saw them. Rio and SP. In Rainbows in its entirety and Creep as final song.

Shin Oliva Suzuki, Sunday, 24 May 2009 23:59 (fourteen years ago) link

Nice! Shame Melissa W and I couldn't make it to those shows, heard great things about them.

Turangalila, Monday, 25 May 2009 07:17 (fourteen years ago) link

Mexico was awesome, though, particularly the 2nd night. Thom even did a bit of I FEEL LOVE during The National Anthem. :D

Turangalila, Monday, 25 May 2009 07:18 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm an animal, trapped in your hot car.

This line always reminds me of Dogs Die in Hot Cars, the band name.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Monday, 25 May 2009 15:16 (fourteen years ago) link

Radiohead denies influencing local band:

I'm gonna post this shit again, bitchez. I can't get tired of it ever, ever, ever. This one is for Turangalila. I will never tire of this song. It's like Can for god's sake. How does one tire of Can?

this is an amazing album

Roberto Spiralli, Saturday, 26 February 2011 19:17 (thirteen years ago) link

radiohead geeks are so into their bends/ok computer/kid a arguments that it will take decades of healing before they realize that this is the best radiohead album

iatee, Saturday, 26 February 2011 19:21 (thirteen years ago) link

There's just not a lot of dynamics with this records songs, tho. Every song just kinda sounds like a singular path, whereas OK Computer/Kid A would morph into entirely different creatures mid-tune, and do so perfectly. They were cinematic, if anything.. you just don't get all too much of with everything that was released thereafter.

kelpolaris, Saturday, 26 February 2011 19:28 (thirteen years ago) link

this is my favorite Radiohead album

rockapads, Saturday, 26 February 2011 20:24 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah #1 or #2 for me. I listened to OK for the first time in years and was surprised by how grating a lot of it was. Hail to the Thief now seems like the first album where they lightened up and let the inspiration flow.

blank, Saturday, 26 February 2011 22:00 (thirteen years ago) link

By far their best album

Odult Ariented Rock (Ówen P.), Sunday, 27 February 2011 02:18 (thirteen years ago) link

Sounded great this afternoon, that's for sure.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 27 February 2011 02:43 (thirteen years ago) link

imo this review is more true to how i feel about In Rainbows than any other: http://www.dustedmagazine.com/reviews/3903

some dude, Sunday, 27 February 2011 02:47 (thirteen years ago) link

That review is utterly baffling.

Melissa W, Sunday, 27 February 2011 03:10 (thirteen years ago) link

Reason I haven't heard king of limbs yet is because this band no longer registers on a 'new music' level for me. I'll listen to it in my own time, and strangely I think this is how they'd prefer it. Best band in the last twenty years btw.

cosdeling barier chough a fat in a ballman thrantume (dog latin), Sunday, 27 February 2011 03:14 (thirteen years ago) link

Like a lot of Radiohead’s recent material, it’s the sort of thing that might sound amazing live, but that doesn’t fare as well under the spotlight of high-fidelity recording.

yeahh...I mean, really? I can think of maybe one song on this album that might be better live. the album's warm sound is the a huge part of the appeal.

iatee, Sunday, 27 February 2011 03:16 (thirteen years ago) link

doesn't feel very warm to me. very dry and remote, just kinda sitting there in an uninviting way.

some dude, Sunday, 27 February 2011 03:20 (thirteen years ago) link

The idea that an album of relatively traditional guitar/piano songs was attempting to be Xenakis and should be criticized for failing to be Xenakis is completely nonsensical.

Melissa W, Sunday, 27 February 2011 03:20 (thirteen years ago) link

i have no idea who Iannis Xenakis is so i won't argue with that

some dude, Sunday, 27 February 2011 03:21 (thirteen years ago) link

Jonny mentioned him in an interview twice so now he's the standard that radiohead is judged against

Z S, Sunday, 27 February 2011 03:32 (thirteen years ago) link

lol that dusted review was written by one of my college roommates and the guy who introduced me to ilx. he is a smart guy and a bro but i don't agree with that review.

congratulations (n/a), Sunday, 27 February 2011 15:37 (thirteen years ago) link

ha does/did he post here?

some dude, Sunday, 27 February 2011 16:42 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah he was "charlie in va." i don't think he's posted in years, and even when he did, it was very sporadic.

congratulations (n/a), Sunday, 27 February 2011 16:54 (thirteen years ago) link

"charlie va" i guess. looks like it's been six years since he last posted!

congratulations (n/a), Sunday, 27 February 2011 16:58 (thirteen years ago) link

So is Thom Yorke the most notably inscrutable mumble-mouthed singer since prime Michael Stipe? Does anyone rate his lyrics? All that comes to mind is the scattered line or two.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 27 February 2011 17:18 (thirteen years ago) link

i have no idea what he is singing, ever
