Because it's great. Surely today it would have been a 60 minute single album rather than a 80 minute double one and it would have been better. But 60 minutes of magic is still enough for this album not to deserve all the shit it had to take.
And complex 20 minute songs influenced by classical music is a great idea that more people should have used. Symphonic was by no means a "finished" genre by then. A lot more could have been done, but sadly one had to wait for the CD age for the opportunity to make 75 minute works.
