OXBOW - The Narcotic Story

Is there any discussion of this, anywhere? This is probably my #2 album of the year right now. How is it that Oxbow are ignored so completely?

I like the album a lot. I recently interviewed Eugene. Great guy. We were on the phone for nearly two hours.

Awesome, is that interview going to materialize anywhere?

Yes, but I'm not at liberty to discuss it yet.

Cool, rock this thread when that happens.

Anyway, as far as the album goes, I'm hearing tons of Led Zep. Like, Led Zep all over the place. It's pretty great.

Oxbow are f'n amazing. Thin Black Duke is pretty much tied for my album of the year with Zimpel/Ziolek and Richard Dawson. It's arguably the best thing they've done but they have a great back catalogue as well, their noise rock-y debut, Fuck Fest is a blast.

lol basically the same reaction I had when I heard them for the first time a few months back (through discover weekly, interestingly enough, thank god i listened to it that week). the whole album is pretty great as well.

also one of the greatest live acts of the last 20 years if you have a chance to see them

Thin Black Duke is good but 'Letter Of Note' is so amazing that it towers above the rest of the album a bit imo

fun to see this last revive where someone else discovers oxbow. i can't remember exactly when i did but my reaction was def "wait how have i not heard about this?"

been spending some time with the new one, these guys are aging like a fine wine. i can't get over how good the orchestration on "ecce homo" is.

it's sad how many mediocre motherfuckers in rock have gotten over instead of Eugene
