Biz Markie s/d, RFI (RIP July '21)

Trying to track down a Biz Markie album that's him just kinda playing some of his favorite tracks and occassionally rapping over 'em. In addition, I've picked up Goin' Off and Make the Music With Your Mouth, and was wondering which other Biz albums are worth it (I heard he also did a fair amount of production work worth picking up, like some Grand Daddy IU, but I've never heard it and was wondering whether it was worth the cash/effort of tracking it down.

The Diabolical is dope.

Romeo Jones, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 17:03 (fourteen years ago) link

The Diabolical seconded. Probably his most solid album...?

His beat for "The Dragon" off this LP = the second half of Wu-Tang's "Buck 50"

I think the only one I never bothered with was All Samples Cleared...?

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 17:14 (fourteen years ago) link

Oops, the one I'm thinkin of is actually called "The Biz Never Sleeps" but "The Diabolical Biz Markie" is printed really big on the front.

Romeo Jones, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 17:15 (fourteen years ago) link

Just Rhymin' With Biz is amazing and is on Big Dady Kane's 1st lp, Long Live The Kane (and Big Daddy Kane apparently wrote a lot of the Biz's early raps, btw).

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 17:18 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah Kane and Biz wrote a lot together - Kane wrote Pickin Boogers!

He is however in hospice.

Folks, @BizMarkie has NOT died. I have been in contact with sources who are texting and talking to his wife. My source talked to Biz TODAY. Per his wife, Biz HAS NOT passed away. Please stop responding to non-credible sources. This hurts the family, friends and fans."

as a youngster growing up in redneck ass northern nevada, "just a friend" was one of the first hiphop songs i ever heard on the radio. went back to his even earlier stuff in later years only to discover that he was one of the pillars of the whole scene.
