It's not just the singing, it's the production on the Marvin version. It's... foreboding.

kenan, Friday, 8 June 2007 02:25 (fourteen years ago) link

forksclovetofu, Friday, 8 June 2007 04:16 (fourteen years ago) link

otm! And I'm certain that the Undisputed Truth and Tempts versions were both produced by Norman Whitfield as well. I have to find them...I wonder if he approached them using more psychedelic-influenced mixes he might not wanted to have used with Marvin.

musically, Friday, 8 June 2007 04:29 (fourteen years ago) link

I odn't like to think of it as a vote against Marvin so much as a vote FOR Creedence. But that's just how I feel man.

You should start a rival band called the Kaiser Chefs. All their songs would be about sauteing.

Is it so all-conquering that if you have heard it, you immediately rate it above the Marvin and the Slits versions?
