singles/live/unreleased. godz cover!

ian, Friday, 20 April 2007 21:54 (thirteen years ago) link

that is a great set. I LOVE this band

admrl, Friday, 20 April 2007 22:01 (thirteen years ago) link

Dogs of Love is almost perfect though, for just four songs it is pretty unbelievable.

admrl, Friday, 20 April 2007 22:01 (thirteen years ago) link

The Trux line-up with Mike Fellows on bass & synth = best live show ever

sexyDancer, Friday, 20 April 2007 22:04 (thirteen years ago) link

Thank You

Tim Ellison, Friday, 20 April 2007 22:26 (thirteen years ago) link

You're quite welcome, Tim!

admrl, Friday, 20 April 2007 22:33 (thirteen years ago) link

Dogs Of Love. it gets no better, no more beautiful and heavy lidded than 'back to school', which is like having yr feet tickled by dew-slicked strands from a spider's web....

stevie, Friday, 20 April 2007 22:59 (thirteen years ago) link

The second s/t record is my favorite full length.

Alex in SF, Friday, 20 April 2007 23:03 (thirteen years ago) link

Cats and Dogs. got some major gaps in my listening though (the two self titleds, Sweet Sixteen, Veterans of Disorder and Pound for Pound).

resolved, Saturday, 21 April 2007 00:11 (thirteen years ago) link

i've never even heard of Dogs of Love, suppose i should look into it.

Royal Trux II (self-titled)

stephen, Saturday, 21 April 2007 04:04 (thirteen years ago) link

circa1916, If you have the Singles/Live/Unreleased thing, it's all on there, I believe.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 21 April 2007 04:16 (thirteen years ago) link

C'mon, where's the none option? Bah, you people obviously hate fun, and/or take this shit way too seriously.

JN$OT, Saturday, 21 April 2007 07:39 (thirteen years ago) link

I love "Pound for Pound" so much

Ben Boyerrr, Saturday, 21 April 2007 15:28 (thirteen years ago) link

such a killer band. jammed out most of s/l/u today at work.

ian, Sunday, 22 April 2007 04:11 (thirteen years ago) link

"SLU" prob shouldn't count but I voted for it cos i9t's v easily the best record ever released

President Evil, Sunday, 22 April 2007 04:12 (thirteen years ago) link

i dont understand why im the only one here who think "Veterans of Disorder" is royal's masterpiece.
mysteries of life

Zeno, Sunday, 22 April 2007 04:31 (thirteen years ago) link

I could almost vote for "Radio/Video". That record is insanely good.

President Evil, Sunday, 22 April 2007 04:34 (thirteen years ago) link

despite appearance as plot element in "High Fidelity"

sexyDancer, Sunday, 22 April 2007 14:28 (thirteen years ago) link

i wonder if i'll be the only one who votes 'accelerator.' the fake 80s production still gets me -- when the all the noise stops for those split second breaks during "banana question" i still feel like i'm listening to it for the first time. and "stevie" still brings tears to my eyes. if we were doing a 'best song' though i might go with "faca amolada" on 'singles' since it showed in three minutes how well they could do pretty, which rendered all the noise sorta more interesting to me

kamerad, Sunday, 22 April 2007 18:10 (thirteen years ago) link

TWIN INFINITIVES

still haven't heard anything after thank you though (s/l/u aside)

i wonder which s/t got the votes

sleep, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 21:55 (thirteen years ago) link

probably the 2nd, bits n spurs nonwithstanding

sexyDancer, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 21:59 (thirteen years ago) link

the second one - I would know, I voted for it

stephen, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 22:40 (thirteen years ago) link

seven years pass...

Cats and Dogs is like an entire album that sounds like "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?" Total sonic amazement.

rockist raccoon (Drugs A. Money), Friday, 29 August 2014 10:17 (six years ago) link

that one and Thank You are the most straight-up rock 'n roll and possibly my favourites as a result

Barry Gordy (Neil S), Friday, 29 August 2014 10:38 (six years ago) link

i probably have played the dogs of love EP more than any other

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 August 2014 10:47 (six years ago) link

3 Song EP is fuckin' a as well

Barry Gordy (Neil S), Friday, 29 August 2014 11:01 (six years ago) link

untitled (2nd s/t) is my favorite. short, a little uneven within that (hey, it suits them), just starting to get their sound together, but damn i love those songs: "lightning boxer", "air", "sometimes", "junkie nurse", "blood flowers", "hallucination". so sexy, sad & crushed. excellent work for years after, but i don't think they ever topped it.

cats and dogs an almost impossibly close 2nd. if "cleveland" and "steal yr face" were on it, might swing the other way.

slight drop down to thank you & accelerator.

Veterans of Disorder and Pound for Pound are like one (awesome) album for me, I can't remember which songs are on which and I probably got them at the same time.

Immediate Follower (NA), Friday, 29 August 2014 14:40 (six years ago) link

there's a slight drop-off in form with those last two IMO, but yeah they're still great. I remember "Waterslide" got a load of daytime play on Radio 1 when it was released as a single because Mark Radcliffe was a fan, it was weird/cool hearing them on the radio.

Barry Gordy (Neil S), Friday, 29 August 2014 14:48 (six years ago) link

air air air air air air
air air, i love you

air air air air air air
air air, she needs it too

^ my all-time favorite RT lyrics, next to the "if you can fly, or collapse all of the time" stanza of "cleveland"

i like them all tho

lag∞n, Friday, 29 August 2014 14:57 (six years ago) link

Veterans is my fave after C&D

rockist raccoon (Drugs A. Money), Saturday, 30 August 2014 07:00 (six years ago) link

always Cats & Dogs but the triple album kills - cover of Suicide is painless is wonderful.

might do that thing where I listen to every royal trux album in order and then tell you all my opinions

here for it

Paul Ponzi, Tuesday, 15 September 2020 18:13 (one week ago) link

I will read your opinions, and possibly offer my own if I am so motivated.

Can Butch Vig not do "dynamimcs"? (morrisp), Tuesday, 15 September 2020 18:14 (one week ago) link

I do that every so often and opine to myself but I generally start with Cats & Dogs when I do. It's a worthy exercise imo.

Don't be such an idot. (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 15 September 2020 18:30 (one week ago) link
