i like it when they sample themselves ('Fly Life' being built out of snippets of Corrina Joseph's awesome 'Live Your Life With Me') best

Don't you people read liner notes? This isn't surprising.

The Brainwasher, Friday, 2 March 2007 17:37 (seventeen years ago) link

who in the hell said it was surprising?

strongohulkington, Friday, 2 March 2007 17:37 (seventeen years ago) link

do the liner notes come with MP3s, mr. smart guy?

Well, in the Daft Punk post they treated it like it was some sort of exposé, when if you looked at the liner notes it's RIGHT THERE.

i wonder why sometimes when i find out what a sample is i dont care and sometimes it depresses me like finding out a magicians trick

That "Overbooked" track by Solid Groove and Sinden they posted last week is INCREDIBLE.

"i wonder why sometimes when i find out what a sample is i dont care and sometimes it depresses me like finding out a magicians trick"

I think it's often depressing when what you're attributing to the artist is the specific, er, sound of the sound, and then you find out it already sounded that way before they sampled that. Like, with Daft Punk it's easy to just assume that they're responsible for all the hyperreal plasticity in their music, so it's disappointing to discover they often sample it.
