I've been buying a lot of these recently and was wondering what people think of them. Such as Ballroom, Tangoterje ,Moxie, Magick edits..... Can anyone suggest any others. Where online are the best places to find these, the local record store here carries them randomly.

CHIC - I FEEL YOUR LOVE COMIN - Moxie Edit
Woman Of The World - Tangoterje Edit
These are two that I like a lot.

you can check out alot of them at flexx.be

I am digging the first Underdog white label. Underdog number 2 has a pretty good ESG edit as well. I have no idea how to get more stuff in this genre...

i bought two bastedos edits, they are awful. who wants long passages of idm-ish glitches in their edits? i dont.

underdog edits are good, i saw leonard partsixx dj @ sonotheque a couple weeks ago and he played some great shit (most of which I wasn't familiar w/ but a few disco tracks i recognized)

the rvng series are pretty solid, esp. the black disco e.p

vain_bowers, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Ended up a Fabric the other weekend for the last few hours, and Craig Richards span a mini-set of some of the best sounding disco edits I've ever heard for the last hour, souring strings, moody basslines, trippy sounds, but all supremely danceable - and as you can imagine sounding awesome on THAT system. Unfortunately I didn't have a clue what a single one of them was until he went early electro for the last couple of songs and played a dub of Klein and M.B.O. 'Dirty Talk'.

Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:16 (fifteen years ago) link

wasn't one of these was it?

vain_bowers, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 16:11 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, the USA European Connection Instrumental version is the one. The part when the whole track stops, and the bassline starts again after a brief pause sounded SOOO good in that room.

as far as i know, there's no Black Disco edit on RVNG. are you conflating it with the Lovefingers' edits on RVNG?

i second the love for that blackdisco release, the "mexico" edit is aceeee. and of course so is most anything released on ambassador's reception.

the latest batches of revenge edits (both official releases and what's leaked here) have been pretty incredible as well. anyone else into these?

psychgawsple, Sunday, 4 January 2009 22:37 (fifteen years ago) link

Surprised there's not more on this thread.

C.O.M.B.I.'s It A Late (which is apparently a Village People song) is great.

http://www.20jazzfunkgreats.co.uk/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/COMBI-It_A_Late.mp3

The Wade Nichols RVNG of the NRDS five is better I'd argue than the fourth one.

Chic - Everybody Dance (DJ Rahaan Edit). Not one of the worst edits ever but I just heard it so I thought I'd mention it.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 3 August 2009 02:06 (fourteen years ago) link

re: Feeling Love as discussed above-- is it the L.E.B. harmony song that was on American Athlete, or the Hott City track?

My current favorites:
Undisputed Truth - Undisputed (How & Why Edit)
Beard Science - Hold Me Longer (Jinichi Rework)
The Trammps - Rubber Band (Mr. L Editions Disco Edit)
My Cousin Roy - Frozen (from the Wurst edit series-- also Runaway 'Ain't Afraid to Beg' is good)
A bunch of the Serge Santiago stuff is really great too, if it counts.

Any really fabulous new ones? Been a bit out of the loop.

sciolism, Monday, 3 August 2009 07:46 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm liking...

Planet Caravan (DJ Steef edit) - Black Sabbath
Never Never Going Going Back Back Again Again (Tom Croose Edit) - Fleetwood Mac

AOR Disco is pretty good for some of the biggest tunes and Sci-Fi Pogo is good for new edits.

Treblekicker, Monday, 3 August 2009 12:03 (fourteen years ago) link

Bim Marx edits (new 12" on Still Love For Music out this week).

what does he do to it? it's so perfect as it is i can't imagine anything could be done to improve it.

"Undisputed Truth - Undisputed (How & Why Edit)"

i love this, but i swear i don't have a handle on its tempo. every time i grab it thinking it should fit perfectly, i'm playing either too fast or too slow for it to mix in. fuck.

pipecock, Monday, 3 August 2009 14:30 (fourteen years ago) link

Bim Marx edits (new 12" on Still Love For Music out this week).

love the rahaan edits that still love 4 music had out last year - not sure of the source of the organ groove on the standout track 'together', but it shares the murky cut-up sound of the other two (the flirts, jakki's 'sun sun sun'). great stuff.

"woah man, flügelhorn" (haitch), Monday, 3 August 2009 15:32 (fourteen years ago) link

damn, I forgot to add "destroy" in front of my choice.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 3 August 2009 15:34 (fourteen years ago) link

The Trammps - Rubber Band (Mr. L Editions Disco Edit)

i'd love to hear this (hint, hint). isn't it just a track dilla used for donuts? does he do anything that hasn't already been done yet?

jaxon, Monday, 3 August 2009 15:49 (fourteen years ago) link

"love the rahaan edits that still love 4 music had out last year - not sure of the source of the organ groove on the standout track 'together', but it shares the murky cut-up sound of the other two (the flirts, jakki's 'sun sun sun'). great stuff."

the organ cut is "Why Can't We Live Together" by Timmy Thomas, all he did was make it repetitive, extend it and add a 808 kick to it. not that that's a bad thing, i had the idea to do exactly that years ago but never got around to it. i bang that track out on the constant, a hell of an edit.

You have a point. I suppose what I'd say is that he does what disco edits are there as I understand it are there to do - make something more for the floor - albeit in a gentle way. See if you like it here...

There's 2 Bim Marx 12" on Still Love 4 Music. The first includes a track off the mix cd. The second, newer, 12" - a split with Master Khan - is all new edits.
