Very disappointed by the Delays record over here, too. Gah, what happened?

Liking:

Jenny Lewis
The Gossip
Tiga (half of it anyway)
Belle & Sebastian
Marc Maron (comedy)

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 04:41 (eighteen years ago) link

All I know about the Tokyo Jihen is that there are two new members (guitarist, I believe, and I don't know the other), and it's got a great jazzy rock sound. I heard their first album but it didn't do all that much for me, so I don't remember exactly how it sounds, but I recall the guitars being beefier. Musicianship is excellent on this one, with inspired guitar playing (especially on track 10!) and wood bass.

If you're a fan of them already, I'm sure you'll like it.

Strokes, Delays and Belle and Sebastian weren't anything special. Arctic Monkeys is pretty good but not great. Enjoyed Clearlake's Amber more than I thought I would. The Kooks debut is pretty good too. Still undecided on Graham Coxon but Lilys, Johnny Boy and Sparks are the best three i've heard in 06 thus.

So how's the new HNIA?

I followed them up through Stars on ESP, but have been halfway on the straight rock/country/blues path they've been on since.
