I don't think Russ gives it the necessary pathos. His cover of "Dead Souls" is good tho.

'Curt' Russell (noodle vague), Monday, 23 January 2006 15:47 (twenty years ago)

The "Extended Mix" of Atmosphere blows most bands collective output clean outta the water.

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Monday, 23 January 2006 17:13 (twenty years ago)

did russ do an extended mix then? where do i get it?

dr x o'skellington, Monday, 23 January 2006 17:28 (twenty years ago)

Nothing touches A Certain Ratio's "All night Holiday"

i'll be scouring the charity shops of chorlton for the twelve inch. i bet this sounds great at 33.

whatever (boglogger), Monday, 23 January 2006 22:33 (twenty years ago)

eleven months pass...
the extended mix is really good

acrobat (elwisty), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 13:46 (nineteen years ago)

only because after 7 minutes he starts going "see you jimmeh" and Bella Emberg does a rap.

vita susicivus (blueski), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

Bella Emberg's shit is tight.

God Bows to Meth (noodle vague), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 13:51 (nineteen years ago)

I think she ghosted most of "Big Poppa".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 14:08 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's disgraceful that Russ Abbot has withdrawn his catchy late 1984/early 1985 top tenner from circulation on the grounds that he finds it embarrassing. Especially when his "A Day In The Life Of Vince Prince" #61 smash from 1982 is still available on numerous EMI comedy compilations.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 14:10 (nineteen years ago)

Dave Tarrida treated some German Techno people to a version of Russ Abbot's one when I was in Berlin. Funny guy!

I'm not entirely sure it was so much worse than Technova's version of Atmosphere that Weatherall put on his Fabric mix.

Both classic rave anthems that have stood the test of time then....

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:23 (nineteen years ago)

it's nowhere near as good as Do The Conga by Black Lace but what is

acrobat (elwisty), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:24 (nineteen years ago)

COSIGN

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:25 (nineteen years ago)

I expect certain participants in CBB would appreciate Black Lace's record-breaking follow-up "I Speaka Da Lingo."

Black Lace worked out to "I Speaka Da Lingo" (CLAP! CLAP!) with Mad Lizzie on TV-AM one morning; I remember it appallingly well.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:36 (nineteen years ago)

Black Lace's finest 3 minutes will always be "We're Having a Gang-Bang".

God Bows to Meth (noodle vague), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

Previously recorded by Paper Lace.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 18 January 2007 08:38 (nineteen years ago)

Did Paper Lace do it too? I have the Black Lace greatest hits CD and their version is definitely the one I've heard in various dive bars/wedding receptions/church parades.

God Bows to Meth (noodle vague), Thursday, 18 January 2007 10:44 (nineteen years ago)

Well, Black Lace and Smokie got to be interchangeable at the end.

Paper Lace? Really?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 18 January 2007 10:50 (nineteen years ago)

Google finds no reference to a Paper Lace version.

God Bows to Meth (noodle vague), Thursday, 18 January 2007 10:52 (nineteen years ago)

It was on their first album along with such equally classic tracks as "Please Be My Friend" and "The Last Bus Home."

Alan Barton from Black Lace seems to get the writing credit for "Gang Bang" on the CD we own. I fear our legs are being pulled.

I'd also like to give props to "El Vino Collapso", a song I'd totally forgotten, for some reason.

if you feel better - he did killed himself.

and again: if you can write better or at least this good song, then i will take you as my life guru, i will sell my whole property, move in your neigbourhood and spend my life documenting yours.

But im affraid you can't, so should you kill yourself too? i don't know.

Dedicated to our best friend Wojciech B. who died yesterday about 2 a.m. treated by high voltage. He was 25 year old engineer of metallurgy. From the acquaintances and colleagues from Technical University of Częstochowa Poland. You're always on our minds and hearts. In our memo you'll be lasted forever. [*][*][*]
