OK. So the P-fork gave this the big 8.3 about three weeks back. They've been lauded in their homeland of Australia for the past three years, and ATP records just issued this spring 05 release for the rest of the world.

Lots of reviews are quick to compare to Nick Cave, Gun Club and X, but I'm hearing a WHOLE lot of NY and Crazy Horse. The lyrics are fantastic, when you can catch them, because lead singer guy sounds like he's going to barf up his lung a lot of the time (IN A GOOD WAY).

Shark Fin Blues made me shiver and cry like no other song I've heard in the past 10 years. And those guitars!!! Out of tune ragged glory. Tube busting goodness. Holy son of a bitch.

Anyone else feeling this? I'm thinking this may have gotten more attention if it had been given the Pfork treatment earlier in the year. This record was definitely in my top 3 of the year after two listens.
