After a long day of teaching I'm going to go buy some CDs. I was thinking of Gorillaz - "Demon Days" and the Kate Bush record. The goal is that I will come home with these, listen to them all in succession, and feel incredibly satisfied. Like, "Yeah....."

Don't even THINK of not buying the Kate Bush record!

Oh, the Kate Bush is a definite.

THAT gorillaz is the effing shiznits. the fiona apple is pretty good too. and throw stones if you must, but I am not familiar with Kate Bush at all. Any albums recommended to start me off?

Tyman, the new Kate Bush is really good (I've been listening to it on MP3). Probably the classic KB record is "The Kick Inside," which has the classic KB song, 'Wuthering Heights."

Uh oh, I'm heading out in a few! More suggestions are necessary!

Hounds Of Love

The Kick Inside might be deceiving re: the rest of her career. And yes, the new one is very very good, though some people aren't getting past the production qualities to the actual music within.

I'm not especially familiar with Nico :| ouch! stones! ouch!

Going to the record store for a new release is a quaint, refreshingly old-time ritual in my neck of the woods these days.

Chelsea Girls is quintessential Nico. That's all you need. Fucking overlooked album IMO.

Buy the new Anthony Hamilton and tell me if it's good. I would, except I'm snowed in. Again.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 23:15 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, and buy Sly Stone's Fresh if you don't have it. I can't see not being deeply satisfied by it, but some people apparently disagree.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 23:18 (eighteen years ago) link

corny indies exactly. just get the vibe from all those fucking websites like Pfork and Stylus that they don't care for that album.

I thought indieans loved Chelsea Girls. Why wouldn't they, cuz it gots strings?

Buy The Occasion - Cannery Hours or Mike Wexler - EP. Or the new Deerhoof. Buy it how ever many hours ago you went to the store.
