I'm listening to it right now, and enjoying it.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Saturday, 10 December 2005 00:37 (sixteen years ago) link

ah, shawn phillips makes a lot of sense now. that record was sampled by shadow and has a few breaks.

when i was in LA for thanksgiving, i went to two clubs on separate nights, and madlib was at both of them. it was kinda funny

jaxon (jaxon), Saturday, 10 December 2005 00:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Madlib does not profit from this bootleg CD, did not authorize it, and thinks the cover is ugly.

No love for the Tamla logo?

This mix is cool.

deej.. (deej..), Sunday, 11 December 2005 22:07 (sixteen years ago) link

two months pass...

so ... mind fusion 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 ... which is best?

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 8 June 2008 06:21 (fourteen years ago) link

picked up mindfusion 2 last week actually. and it's good. almost entirely a jazz funk vibe (elvin jones, pharoah s, george duke etc.). he doesn't let tracks play out for long so it's best just to soak up the general vibe. crazy assed artwork too. haven't heard 3, 4 or 5 however. 1 is also good for its hip-hop selection but presumably you've heard that.

sam500, Sunday, 8 June 2008 06:34 (fourteen years ago) link

ah, shawn phillips makes a lot of sense now. that record was sampled by shadow and has a few breaks.

relevant

dmr, Sunday, 8 June 2008 08:23 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah what the hell happened to that DJ Shadow record with like...something about the concept of time in the samples. Come on. Circa 2000 or whatever. You know the song I mean. Arrrrgh. Everyone loved it. What was it called? Argggh.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Sunday, 8 June 2008 08:25 (fourteen years ago) link

I think it's called "Six Days", that's it. From 2002, though.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Sunday, 8 June 2008 08:29 (fourteen years ago) link

i got "mind fusion 3". it's pretty good, not quite as heavy on spacey fusion as review make one believe. it's basically a 50/25/25 mix of murky roots reggae, tropicalia and "blue break beats"

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 8 June 2008 21:23 (fourteen years ago) link

i'll probably start picking up the rest.

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 8 June 2008 21:23 (fourteen years ago) link

eight months pass...

Listening to Mind Fusion Vol 1 again now and it's the biz. I really need to get my hands on 3, 4 and 5.

sam500, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 04:56 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah, those are the ones i got. recommended. where do i find 2?

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 06:18 (thirteen years ago) link

Good question. I picked up mine in a 2nd hand store in Tokyo. Or Slsk?

sam500, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 06:35 (thirteen years ago) link

three years pass...

GAAHHHH i can't stop listening to medicine show vol 12
