Hailing from West Philly, solo artist Tara Burke aka Fursaxa boasts a fan base from the likes of Bardo Pond, Acid Mothers Temple and Thurston Moore who released a record by her on his Ecstatic Peace imprint two years ago, and is a new signing to ATP Recordings after an acclaimed performance at the second weekend Directors Cut ATP festival in the UK.

Fursaxa has a sound that hearkens back to those other polar queens of disaffected freakout music, described by many as a psychadelic Nico and compared to Barbara Manning, Lepidoptera is one of the most otherworldly releases you'll come across this year. Burke has a real knack for turning folk into lo-fi, and then into sheer psych and back again.

**New album Lepidoptera is currently Mojos Undergound album of the month**

Alec Redfern (Eyesores) performs experimental Balkan/Eastern European folk inspired music and has been part of the Providence underground scene for the past 15 years.

Sharron Krause sings traditional and original folk songs reminiscent of Shirely Collins and Karen Dalton. 'An immaculatre album from a major new singer'.   Rough Trade .

Returning to Cambridge after his well received set at Palimpsest Festival, Dan Merrill will be playing a solo violin piece of broken melodies, cracked harmonics, and guttural drones.

Alec K. Redfearn is fuckin fantastic, and I think ya'll should go see him. Search his groops The Barnacled (free jazz big band), Eyesores (psych folk), The Haldols (bass, accordion and drums) and Gutterhelmet (accordion & drums).

You should! I like her records okay, but wasn't particularly impressed seeing her live. Others have different experiences.

maybe I could wear a disguise

she was prob. the weakest link at the Subcurrent Festival in Glasgow this year - her set was based around vocal delay/sampling/looping etc. and while it sounded pretty and shit, it didn't really move me(she was also on just before Hototogisu, who were awesome, so maybe as a headliner she will mean more)
