So good.

Strange poinancy in having two ex-timbo disciples rap--that's Petey Pablo on the second verse, innit?--about their alienation. Here's to wishing them the best of luck in the future. They both have skills, and I really hope that they get to let them shine, especially Bubba, who was spitting some real poetry on that Deliverance album. Slept on like a drooly pillow.

"Ex-Timbo?" What's the story?

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Monday, 24 October 2005 00:36 (twenty years ago)

Bubba was on Timbo's Beat Club imprint but now he's on Outkast's imprint (Purple Crown?)

Ah, that's what it was. Isn't Organized Noize producing the whole album this time?

i think so, yeah, or at least a big chunk of it. i think he kind of had a semi-falling out with timbaland, and knew rico wade before he ever met tim so its some real "homecoming" shit. or at least that's the way the label is spinning it.

are you SURE that's not Petey Pablo?

miccio (miccio), Monday, 24 October 2005 01:54 (twenty years ago)

Who said it wasn't petey pablo? I can't actually hear it cuz I'm at a public computer but I didnt see anyone disagree.

Anyway I think this was a good move on Bubba's part, he would have painted himself into a corner reaaaal quickly with timbo. This gives him some need longevity. The stuff I've heard w purple ribbon has been hot.

ah, woops I thought Strongo was referring to the track when he said "just Big Boi."

miccio (miccio), Monday, 24 October 2005 02:01 (twenty years ago)

Actually, I think Bubba was one of the few acts Timbaland couldn't paint into a corner. He's got a real personality, and if anything I think Timbo tailored his beats for Bubba. Sort of what he did with Missy/Aaliyah/Genuine. I mean, a third of the tracks on "Deliverance" were Organized Noize, right? And it's not like the album wobbled erratically from track to track.

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Monday, 24 October 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

It's Petey Pablo; that's what my advance copy of the CD says, anyway. So far, I'm liking the album, but I'm also pretty disappointed by it; there doesn't seem to be any country-oriented stuff, which sucks, but I guess Bubba has to move on. So far my favorite track is "Wonderful," but that could change. The Pablo track's good, too.

I may be one of the few people who think that Organized Nopize ara amazing producers - better than Timbaland, for sure. I guess they're more conventional, but their utter consistency is what makes nearly all the Dungeon Family albums so listenable as albums.

paulhw (paulhw), Monday, 24 October 2005 19:38 (twenty years ago)

What are some other essential Organized Noize albums then?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 24 October 2005 20:06 (twenty years ago)

Actually i think its that country-motif stuff that was painting him into a corner

deej.. (deej..), Monday, 24 October 2005 20:12 (twenty years ago)

Maybe, but that doesn't mean it wasn't his best stuff. (Plus, I'm not sure *why* it would paint him into a corner. There's as much possibility in incorporating country as in *not* incorporating country. And there's definitely more possibility in incorporating both country *and* non-country. Getting rid of it makes his horizons *less* wide, not more.) (That goes for David Banner too, by the way.)
