The Mack is gone. Great albums and production work, not to mention all the heavily sampled hooks by Three Six et al. I hadn't realized how many tunes he penned for others in his heyday. Rest In Peace.

"Use What You Got" on Maverick is a stompin' two-sider. Respect.

I saw this yesterday as well, and was also surprised at what else he'd done. The Mack soundtrack is excellent. He was far too young. RIP.

Very sad. I'll be listening to him tonight. Great music, beautiful and massively underappreciated. I was glad to note in Easy Street today that at least a couple of his titles are in print. "Foxy Brown"!

Are all of his 70s albums worth getting? I am only cognizant of "brother's gonna work it out" and "I'll be there.

xp Yeah I was just listening to that one! Lovely, deep production, he's almost built a mansion of sound that he's inviting you to come and live in
