And if so, have you seem them perform? How was it?

Aren't they supposed to be weird hermit recluse types?

Doesn't every one of their ilk have to be weird hermit recluse types in order to cultivate an image? Then only IDM act I've seen who seems to be having fun on his gigs (dancing maniacally and shouting weird things) is Ovuca (and I'm not saying this out of national pride).

Though his Astrobotnia gig was far less wild, but obviously that's due to the material.

also bogdan raczynski was pretty wild the couple of times i saw him.

saw boc at the lighthouse gig (which you can find mp3ed somewhere). they were ok, much like listening to the records at home, though.

Heh, bogdan playing live is proper mentallist screaming-at-the-crowd fun.
Ceephax too. air mixing, strap-on 303 action, corny shoutouts. v v funny.
As much as either of those two are idm..

What do people do at Boards gigs anyway? Is is a beard-stokey frenzy of slow swaying, or just a carpet of k'd-up/smoked-out people keeled over on the floor spinning out at the kaleidoscope visuals?

Onstage, a beard-stokey frenzy of slow swaying, in the audience a carpet of smoked out people. There were no visuals i can recall.

I saw them at ATP a few years ago- it was like listening to the records, only VERY loud, which was cool.

really? i saw them at the lighthouse gig but maybe not the same one as you (there were two in successive years) and i found it really hard to ID most of the tracks - i'm not even sure if they played 'happy cycling'.

Hahahaha! I hope they tour soon for the new album, so that I can smoke myself out and be part of the floor coverage.
