I tend to hide lyrics and names behind a lot of dense symbolism, so here’s the general break-down of the name. “Empire! Empire!” is that one evasive dream that you want so badly, and you will always chase it, but it never seems quite in reach. I don't like any bandname that is also a placename, but calling your band a placename that has recent historical weight even though you've had nothing to do with it strikes me as...crass. It'd be like calling a band Basra, ffs

algiers is a very large and important city not a village
by recent historical weight you are probably referring to something that happened over half a century ago unless you take more interest in maghrebi politics that would be apparent from your posts
