I always thought it sounded too much like Eurythmics Sweet Dreams

Not only that, Some Guy: it was specifically commissioned and designed as a Sweet Dreams soundalike performed by a more palatable/marketable entity than Annie Lennox (in this case, a teen male model).

I think I became a man the first time I saw that video.

Did they pay any royalties for it Joseph?

Hard to believe there's an entity more palatable/marketable than Annie Lennox.

Great song. C'mon, people! "She got in bed with the guy in shades"

And I hate "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)."

the lyrics are " she's got it made with a guy in the shades".
how did not see the similarity between and the half as good "sweet dreams".

I've been wrong all these years!!!

Classic. Probably not, for those of us who weren't 2 when it came out. Reminds me of Dan Hartman's "I Can Dream About You" from "Streets of Fire", not sure why. Stack it alongside any other early MTV staple like Haircut 100, Bananarama, Flock of Seagulls, etc. Maybe it doesn't age well, the simple new wave, but it brings back good memories, which makes it a C for me.

Good memories for me too (as with "I Can Dream About You"). Maybe if I heard it today for the first time ever I would say it's a ploddy and boring track, but because it transports me to eighth grade I have a soft spot for it.

Does a thread about "I Can Dream About You" exist?

I just found out last month that the lyric goes "so I can / watch you weave then breathe your story lines." It's an evocative line, but it's perhaps wasted in its presentation.

My acoustic 80s band plays this song. Bowed upright bass, a high tremelo mandolin bit, and female lead vocal. We do the last chorus a capella. It comes off reasonably well with audiences of a certain age.

that shredded voice refrain is kinda cool

Kinda like how "On The Dark Side" is a great fake-Bruce song, this is a great fake-Eddie Money song
