I'm not getting my hopes up yet, but is this the start of something wonderful? Is this remastered or just some bogus import? I've been gone for two months-- is this old hat? I only own Loveless and Isn't Anything, but this is the good shit, yes?

(I've seen) this (before)

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:24 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Well, I could see this actually being reissued -- it's not covered by the Creation years.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:30 (twelve years ago) Permalink

this just got reissued like two years ago. I'm not sure who owns the license to it but it never seems to be out of print for long these days.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:38 (twelve years ago) Permalink

i've got the vinyl of that E&W - also on Lazy. i always wondered if it was rare/valuable, although I suspect it is neither... still love it tho

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:58 (twelve years ago) Permalink

the sound quality on it drives me nuts - sooo much mid-range, and not in a good way!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 19 August 2005 19:00 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Adam's post is like a Ecstasy song title!

How cool am I? I have the original Escstasy mini-LP, sealed!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 19 August 2005 19:26 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Also, I think this CD is just a repressing.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 19 August 2005 19:26 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Oh. Balls. I don't have it, though, so I'll still pick it up.

My Bloody Valentine Limited Box Set!

My Bloody Valentine

My Bloody Valentine are finally returning to the music scene after a long, long 20 years!!!
In addition they are coming back to Japan for the first time in 17 years, to headline the main Green Stage at Fuji Rock Festival 08.

And here’s in celebration of their wonderful comeback – My Bloody Valentine Complete Box Set!

This is a joke, right?

Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:21 (nine years ago) Permalink

I have to be honest -- I had totally forgotten the reunion was on until Elvis revived the thread.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:25 (nine years ago) Permalink

Apparently not:

In case this isn't a joke, are these the original videos on the DVD? or "video clips produced exclusively for this package", to quote the above?

Lagos, Nigeria.
Attention: The President/CEO

Dear Sir,

Confidential Business Proposal

Having consulted with my colleagues and based on the information gathered from the Nigerian Chambers Of Commerce And Industry, I have the privilege to request your assistance to transfer the sum of $47,500,000.00 (forty seven million, five hundred thousand United States dollars) into your accounts. The above sum resulted from an over-invoiced contract, executed, commissioned and paid for about five years (5) ago by a foreign contractor. This action was however intentional and since then the fund has been in a suspense account at The Central Bank Of Nigeria Apex Bank.

We are now ready to transfer the fund overseas and that is where you come in. It is important to inform you that as civil servants, we are forbidden to operate a foreign account; that is why we require your assistance. The total sum will be shared as follows: 70% for us, 25% for you and 5% for local and international expenses incidental to the transfer.

The transfer is risk free on both sides. I am an accountant with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). If you find this proposal acceptable, we shall require the following documents:

(a) your banker's name, telephone, account and fax numbers.

(b) your private telephone and fax numbers —for confidentiality and easy communication.

(c) your letter-headed paper stamped and signed.

Alternatively we will furnish you with the text of what to type into your letter-headed paper, along with a breakdown explaining, comprehensively what we require of you. The business will take us thirty (30) working days to accomplish.

Please reply urgently.

Best regards

Kevin Shields

Where's the dag dang bonus tracks?

Fastnbulbous, Friday, 16 May 2008 05:45 (nine years ago) Permalink

In terms of my own ears, MBV is one of those bands I adored 20 years ago that today, don't strike any of the same chords with me. Isn't Anything sits with Mind Furnace and Richie's Dog in a dark corner of my home, desperately wanting for the touch of stylus on their ebony hides.

libcrypt, Friday, 16 May 2008 05:57 (nine years ago) Permalink

for me it suffers from just having listened to it too damn much - i know it so well i never have to hear it again

although i would give an eye tooth for proper remasters of the conway era

electricsound, Friday, 16 May 2008 06:02 (nine years ago) Permalink

I have the Loveless (lossless?) Minidisc, somewhere...

Mark G, Friday, 16 May 2008 07:07 (nine years ago) Permalink

The Plain reissue of Loveless from a couple of years ago sounds incredible. I can't imagine these being much of an improvement.

The Wayward Johnny B, Friday, 16 May 2008 07:48 (nine years ago) Permalink

i didn't think the plain issue sounded any better than the cd. for realsies. i'm torn now between what to get. i wish they'd put the analogue master on lp, it'd make things a lot easier.

BELATED MBV REFORMATION POINT: i liked that old article announcing tourdates, mentioning their 'longtime booking agent' who'd worked with them for twenty years. pretty slow twenty years.

is the 'loveless' reissue once again RARE OOP on vinyl?

haven't seen them lately

Then, suddenly, nothing happened!

Mark G, Saturday, 10 March 2012 18:58 (five years ago) Permalink

I have the slipcase promos of the remasters somwhere. Must dig them out to see if they were actually remastered, or whether they sound the same as the original CD versions.

Viva Brother Beyond (ithappens), Saturday, 10 March 2012 19:08 (five years ago) Permalink

I hear they sound awesome if you turn them way the fuck up.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 11 March 2012 01:22 (five years ago) Permalink

I'm willing to bet my house those CDs weren't remastered.

Chewshabadoo, Sunday, 11 March 2012 10:27 (five years ago) Permalink

whole time i read that i was wondering whether this was ever, at any point, interrupted by the interviewee

Dude seems pretty oblivious to the fact that big stores are selling vinyl these days. Ridiculously priced, yes, but Best Buy and all that have racks of "Abbey Road" and "Thriller".

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 13 March 2012 15:54 (five years ago) Permalink

i continually hear all about this but have yet to see it at both my local bestbuys. where do you guys live?

NO NUTRITIONAL CONTENT (kelpolaris), Thursday, 15 March 2012 16:31 (five years ago) Permalink

Atlanta

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Thursday, 15 March 2012 16:32 (five years ago) Permalink

I live just north of Chicago. Even the Best Buy closest to my house, which has the tiniest CD selection I've ever seen in one before, has a 4 foot rack of vinyl.

stan this sick bunt (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 15 March 2012 20:12 (five years ago) Permalink

the fukk? maybe it's just the places bestbuy is in around here - suburbs - that kinda negate the demand for vinyl, like closer to downtown (where all our record shops start to gravitate towards here in denver.... absolutely nothing 5 miles in any direction once you start headed out of skyscraper-range)

NO NUTRITIONAL CONTENT (kelpolaris), Thursday, 15 March 2012 22:56 (five years ago) Permalink

also you might consider, in regards of mbv, that britain doesn't have as many chain stores (i'm not saying doesn't *have*... i'm just saying we've got a wider diaspora and variety of big boxes.... me having been to england...never)

NO NUTRITIONAL CONTENT (kelpolaris), Thursday, 15 March 2012 22:58 (five years ago) Permalink

There’s a mess of not very well processed information and I don’t feel great afterwards. The point, scientifically, is that a lot of 3D processes stress the brain because it’s tricking the brain to do an exercise. “I think the corporate world wants to stress the hell out of us so we have no energy left to say, ‘Fuck off’. They’re somehow turning all the mediums of relaxation into added stress inducement techniques.

this is exactly how i feel about television

I will probably buy these, even though by all rights I should know better. (I already have 4 versions of isn't anything.)
