I listened to Entertainment! for the first time today.
And i am wondering : is the intro to Damaged goods very similar to a Young marble giants song (dont know which one - I lost my copy of colossal youth).
Also, who covered Damaged goods?

It'd be the other way `round, given that Entertainment! pre-dates Colossal Youth

I've never heard of anyone covering "Damaged Goods," but I'd love to hear it if so.

According to Allmusic.Com, an all-girl Punk band called the Devotchkas (from here in NYC) evidently released on a song of the same name on their album, Annihilation (unfortunately released on September 11, 2001). I suppose it could be a cover.

Gang of 4's own new version is on Myspace: www.myspace.com/gangoffour.
I don't much like it.

No, "Damaged Goods" sounds more like early Cure than YMG.

Oh they really dont sound as YMG. It's just that intro.
Will try to find colossal youth and track the song.
Also found that it flows quite well to play tiefschwarz "Warning siren" after damaged goods

I know, but even the intro doesn't sound like anything on Colossal Youth.

four months pass...
OK, but does it not sound like the guitar parts on the first single that DNA released? That stuff pretty much sounds exactly like the solo on "At Home He's a Tourist". Which band came first?

I've had the exact same thought about DNA/Go4 guitar influence on that song. I think the only way to figure it out would be to ask the parties involved, as record release dates won't settle the question.

maybe the Gang of Four myspace page should ask the DNA/Arto Lindsay myspace page.
