it's like every time I listen to MF, it's like this is the only band that can get me into a "fuck...nobody even close to on their level these days, fuckin' youngsters" kinda vibe. for the most part I reject that vibe utterly but then I consider that once a million years ago some dudes from Denmark got all "yeah, we want our album to sound like this" and I think, fuckin', the balls on these guys. OTOH don't want to get possessed by Satan/sacrifice life & family to him so that's the offset

I wish King would reform MF soon. I like his solo stuff fine and the later era MF stuff wasn't as solid but in their prime you couldn't fuck with Fate. they were probably the first heavy metal band of their ilk that I fell in love with, oddly after seeing them on Beavis and Butthead and just thinking they sounded evil and sinister.

I will rep for a lot of later Fate now - Time & In the Shadows are pretty great, the song "Angel of Light" is one of their best grooves. And Fatal Portrait for me stands alongside the best Fate stuff, too - great great record. The Puppet Master on the other hand I cannot get down w/.

In the Shadows is almost as fab as the first two, I'll rate it right up there...I mostly wasn't into Dead Again or Into the Unknown, but I liked "9" a lot despite its sonic shift.

in fact "The Bell Witch" is one of my fav songs of theirs ever

so classic.. The 'Them' album still one of my all-time favs.. The playing on that record is so good. Mickey Dee's drumming-flawless.. I love that record!!!! And the story, are you kidding me?- BRILIANT!

Abigail is really quite an awesome album. Can't say its sequel lives up to it, but rarely do they ever...

I'm listening to Them right now. \m/. I remember once going to sleep with this album and waking up abruptly in the middle of the bonus track "Phone Call" which iirc is just dialogue of King talking to his dead grandma saying "but...you're dead!" and I about peed myself waking up in the middle of that without having a moment to process what I was hearing or even knowing that it was my stereo.

Roadrunner box set looks amazing. But it's missing bonus tracks, is there another way to get these bonus tracks on an official release aside from the individual albums?

Also a lot of the artwork is supposed to be missing. I don't know if the art is worth fussing over but I like old metal art so I might have to buy these individually.

At 63 he shouldn't still be able to do this. After the heart attack/bypass he stopped smoking which helped a ton.

Also this was held at our local performing arts center so there were ushers in uniforms, managers in suits. It was held in the Walt Disney theatre. Down the hall, in the other theatre, The Marriage of Figaro was playing.

Really sad that patrons of both shows weren't in the lobby at the same time.

I saw him a few years ago and I was blown away by how great his voices sounded (even with his wife helping out behind the scenes), even after heart surgery. Dude is immortal.
