TS: Nirvana Vs. Nirvana

Nirvana UK. No doubt. Two great albums crowded with great songs. The US Nirvana had a few nice ones too, but are generally overrated, plus they may be partly blamed for acts such as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. So, clearly, the 60s Nirvana!

i didn't agree with geir until i got to the second clause in his fourth sentence.

out of curiosity, Geir, what's your beef with PJ, AiC, and SG?

AaronK (AaronK), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 11:32 (fifteen years ago) link

UK - I discovered them having heard Francoise Hardy's version of Tiny Goddess.

You can't blame an artist for his followers.

I used to know a Bass player for Nirvana.

I know nothing about UK Nirvana but I've never really liked the Seattle lot much.

'murican for me

No matter how you slice it, the UK Nirvana was a second-rate, middling psych-pop singles band.

Some highly rate "The Story of Simon Simopath" LP, but I found it pretty sluggish.

US Nirvana. ALL of their singles were better than "Rainbow Chaser".

So apples beats oranges then?

Soundgarden came before Nirvana, and need apologize for nothing. What the world needs now is more Kim Thayil.

So apples beats oranges then

as i think has been said before, oranges are way, way better than apples

Zack Richardson (teenagequiet), Thursday, 9 June 2005 03:16 (fifteen years ago) link

im going to go with the nirvana that wrote "Frances Farmer will have her revenge on seattle"

and oranges are only better than apples that arent Granny Smith.

hi zack.

JD from CDepot, Thursday, 9 June 2005 16:34 (fifteen years ago) link

every time i think i dont like nirvana at all, someone always reminds me of Frances Farmer and totally awesome feedback squeel verse.

I've never heard the UK Nirvana. Are they anywhere near as good as, say, Kaleidoscope?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Thursday, 9 June 2005 17:43 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't know who the other Nirvana is, but "Nirvana" is a great great band name though.........

PB, Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:05 (fifteen years ago) link

I pick Nirvana...

That One Guy (That One Guy), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:15 (fifteen years ago) link

Kaleidoscope slays Nirvana U.K., by virtue of becoming Fairfield Parlour.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:25 (fifteen years ago) link

The Kaleidoscope records are just as good as the F.P. album, no? F.P.'s unreleased White-Faced Lady is really good, too.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:36 (fifteen years ago) link

Are they anywhere near as good as, say, Kaleidoscope?

I'd rank Kaleidoscope slightly ahead, but musically they are clearly related.
