Who's compatible with who? To prevent Blue Lines from being filled up with this pointless personality test nonsense, I'm moving it forumwards - share your scores with one another and let's see a wedding before the end of the page. (No, not really). I'm tom@freakytrigger.com, of course.

Tom, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Christ on a bike. Me and Josh. 100%. Shurely some mistake. Nice to see all my drinking mates are above 75% correlation though. 88% Tom. That 12% difference will be in the slow drinking aspect of my personality, or inability to stomach man stench.

Pete, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

83% with Tom, into the 90s with Glaswegian smart-arse Ally Cook and Chelmsford-based father of several David Moore (even though he's a dreamer and I'm Magnus Magnusson), and 100% with someone called Suzanne Ward, who must be a mate of El Dastoor's.

Tell her I'm spoken for, Nick. Break it to her gently, like.

from the moment i looked into his beady little eyes, covered though they were by his round spectacles, i knew it was love. what do i like about him best? maybe his trim physique, trim to the point of caricature. or maybe it's his geeky-yet-efficient crew cut. i might not be able to put it into words, but i don't have to for thespark.com has proven that my love is true. yes, tom and i share 100% compatibility.

i also share 100% compatibility with: "murdoch" "mark k" nick dasto0r "chris" sophie brookover john of us against them

honors of least compatible go to that businessman, ryan schreiber of pitchfork. next up is a virtual tie with catherine and, surprise surprise, JOSH!

fred solinger, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Crew cut??

Tom, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Tom - I'm very hurt. not only did you ignore the fact that I blogged this personality test on ra ra ra about a fortnight ago (leading to pearlsgirl and scrubbles doing the same) but THEN you fail to mention me in your list of high compatiblity chums, even though at 98% I whupped (sp?) the other Nick's arse.

Bernadette, Suzanne and 'Murdoch' (no, not that one, nor that one) are all friends of mine.

I am 100% with lots and lots of people, as I said in my weblog. I just wanna get along.

N. x

P.S. Mike - Suzanne would make an ideal mistress.

But as I said in my

Nick Dastoor, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I am an EXPERIMENTER! They call me a BUTCHER! (Cough.)

As for compatibilities, Fred and Dan tie at 100%. (Cough.) Tom's at 89%, Fred's S.O. is at 88%, Otie at 83%, Josh comes in (rather disappointingly) at 77%, Nanette's at 72% and Jerwin at 64%. (Cough.) Of course, since none of you are even remotely potential boyfriend material (Jerwin being taken and in another country), aand since I have someone very special in my life right now, the results are meaningless to me! (Cough.) Meaningless! (Cough.) Ahahahaha! (Cough.)

I am very high on NyQuil right now. (Cough.)

Michael Edward Daddino, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

For true personality test obsessives, have you spotted that your compatibility list URL just ends with your email address, so you can paste other people's addresses in its place and find out all about everyone else. And gradually create your own path to Kevin Bacon.

I'm sure this is all very dodgy in some data protection way.

On a related timewasting theme, have you done the Guardian's IQ vs. Salary test yet and discovered you should all vastly underpaid? Except Mike, who is already a millionaire but probably ought to be a billionaire.

N. x

Nick Dastoor, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Link to IQ/Salary test is at http"//nickdastoor.pitas.com

Nick Dastoor, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Nick, I thought we'd be more compatable than a piddly 86%! I'm 100% with Dan, 98% with Fred. I'm also 100% with Michael and Fiona, whoever they are (sorry if you're either). Other quickies: 89% w/Tom, 86% w/Josh, 77% w/Otis,76% w/Ally, 70% w/Nanette and 54% w/Jerwin.

Kathleen Gallagher, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Enormously incompatible with all of you, I'm delighted to say! Except for Mr Alex Magid, whoever you are....

Tanya H., Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

As Tom already knows, I have 100% compatibility with him ...

Robin Carmody, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Here's my 100% list:

Tom Fred Holly Nick Lisa Mark Mike Millie Matt

Apparently, I'm very similar to people whose names begin with M.

Dan Perry, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

...and being a complete schmoe, I left Kathleen off the list. Oops.

We experimenters can be so wacky.

Dan Perry, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

i just want to say that i took that iq vs. salary test on nick's blog and it confirmed what we all knew: there is no amount of money in the world commensurate to my genius. seriously. the test said should ask for a raise like NOW.

fred solinger, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Ok. So what I want to know is how to the spark folks decide how we're compatible? Why am I, an Artist (uh, ok) compatible with Mastermind Tom and Experimenters Fred & the unknown Dan Perry, but not so much with Experimenters Tanya and Alex Magid? What's up with that? Anyone familiar w/their matching-up process? I'm loving the silliness, of course, but now I want to know how it works.

sophie, Thursday, 28 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I want a 1% compatibility with someone.

Matt, Friday, 29 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Yeah, then you can have a real live "arch-enemy". Perhaps persuade them to shave their head and wear vinyl jumpsuits, too.

Josh, Friday, 29 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

i wish bloody, violent death upon josh kortbein. that is all.

fred "bored" solinger, Friday, 29 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

not only do i not know any of you really, i'm most compatible with Tom (89 percent), who I know through reading his stuff, and least compatible with Tanya (38 percent), who I also know through reading her stuff. So the two people who I've heard of are the two extremes of my compatibility thresholds. Like, wild, man :)

h0l, Friday, 29 September 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Such violence toward someone who has shown you such love, Mr. Solinger!

Josh, Sunday, 1 October 2000 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

one month passes...
Well, that's nice to know... I'm more compatible with Mark Richardson (89%) and Stuart Green (96%) than with my own dear husband (77%). And only a paltry 54% with Robin Carmody! What a shame.

Layna Andersen, Friday, 3 November 2000 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

seven months pass...
Now this is a thread that's begging to be revived. I'm apparently a Mastermind, 100% compatible with Mike Daddino and Kathleen Gallagher, and somewhat disturbingly 57% compatible with my own girlfriend. Other people highly incompatible with me : Nicole (65%), Nanette (59%) and Kate masonic boom (56%) - all female, and that's also rather troubling. Others above 95% : Fred, Robin, Dan Perry, Mark Pitchfork and Mitch Lastnamewithheld.

Patrick, Sunday, 3 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Tim Finney and Tom Ewing are my soulmate$ @ 100%. Dan Perry 98% and Fred is a 96%. Apparently, I should avoid even being in the same room as the rest of you. 8)

Kim, Sunday, 3 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Tim, Tom, Dan, Pete, Kim all 100% or near.

Sterling Clover, Sunday, 3 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Apparently, I'm a GURU:

"Like just 12% of the population you are a GURU (SEAF)--kind, knowing, giving. Like Buddha of old, you can be a persuasive speaker, and you use your creative talents to further the objectives of your heart instead of your mind. But be careful that your friends don't take advantage of your relaxed nature, that's what happened to Jesus.

Above all, you like going with the flow. And there is probably nothing in the world you haven't smoked. That's cool. Oh yeah, you like to talk a lot. That's cool, too. Whatever."

It couldn't sound LESS like me (besides the smoking bit) than if it'd come up "You are a NUN!"

Anyhow, compatibility. 100% with David Naylor, Otis Wheeler, Kris Srinivasan, Fred Solinger, Kate Sloane, Brian MacDonald, April, Nick Dastoor, and Paul Carney (must be the similar last names). Others of note: Dan Perry 98%, Greg Scarth 84%, DG 98%, Tom Ewing 91%, Tim Finney 98%, Robin Carmody 75%, Nicole 56%, Kate St. Claire 58%, Patrick 77%, Mark Richardson 73%, Mitch 76%.

Lowest compatibility? Josh Kortbein! 54%.

'artist' - someone remind time-warner

g. racer, Monday, 4 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Would anyone labelled a "Mastermind" really spend copious amounts of time posting to a message board? Probably not. I think I must've made some mistakes.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Monday, 4 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

"Mastermind": It's like when a street-girl says "Hullo, Big Boy" — it's the Net's net-the-sucker siren call. I know cuz I'm %100 compatible w.you Mitch!! And I'm such a total mastermind that I haven't yet worked out how to conjure most of the rest of y'all into my entry. (Tho this is mostly to do with ownership of last horse-powered Mac ever made...)

mark s, Monday, 4 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

i am "the experimenter," a nice way of saying i take copious drugs. but it also means:
"You are an EXPERIMENTER (DIAT). Although you're slightly shy (admit it!), you love control. When a problem comes in your way, you stomp on it swiftly and decisively. You are bothered easily by failure in others and failure in yourself. You don't like people that you don't think are intelligent. Rather than arguing with them, however, you would just as soon ignore them altogether.

In relationships, you have a strong heart. And because you're introverted, people take you as someone they can trust. But the fact is that in addition to solving problems, you like to create them. So there's a decent chance that you'll cheat on a loved one. If you do, you'll likely get away with it.

You're a good person at heart, but then again, who isn't?"

so what makes me special is that i'm a good person at heart, but then they nullify that by saying EVERYONE is good at heart. so i'm not special at all. huh.

anyway, compatibilities. 100% with: dan, ally (yeah right!), dg, mike d., tom, robin, tim, and nick. this is my new inner circle. noteworthy: mark 81%, kris 89%, "el matador" 96%, kim 96%, josh 69%, otis 98%, greg 98%, kate 72%, sterling 93%, pete 88%, mitch 89%, geoff 83%, mark s 76%. layna (61%) and nicole (64%) are my two lowest.

fred solinger, Monday, 4 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

On the whole, I'd much rather stick with being Tommy Lee.

Nicole, Monday, 4 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I wonder if the Prodigy took this test, before they came up with "I am the firestarter". And Se~nor Matador, te pregunto, por que?

Geoff, Monday, 4 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Geoff - I don't even know why I used that name. I wish I could change it.
