My roommate did an open mic sorta thing in college that was pretty funny. It wasn't really karaoke, but it was sort of like it with a live band. He goes up there all drunk and is like, "Just play anything, I'll sing along with it" and they looked at him like he was stupid and so he quickly adds, "Oh, I dunno, do you know any AC/DC? How about [I think it was 'For Those About To Rock']" and they started playing and he starts singing We're the Riverbottom Nightmare Band, Riverbottom Nightmare Band... It was especially funny because that's all he knew as far as lyrics. He had a pretty cool scratchy gutteral voice, though. Too bad he looked like a retard.

Wasn't there a Bob Dylan critique in those lyrics? Something like "...we hate what we don't understand...River Bottom Nightmare Band" (cf. Times They are A-Changin': "Don't criticize what you can't understand.")

I hadn't thought about RBNB in at least ten years -- this thread is incredible. This was one of those barely-remembered things that I never thought I could share with anybody. Nice work.

This question is for the leader of this ruthless crew: Chuck. How did your on-again off-again relationship with Ma' play into your performance during the Frog Hollow talent show? It seemed you played with greater intensity...or was it purpose...than when you play the larger Stadium venues.
