Bachelor Pad = Best Glasgow band of the late 80's. Course there really wasn't much competition with the Teenage Fanclub just getting going, the Pastels, BMX Bandits etc pretty inactive a lot of the time, and the succesful ones (Edwyn Collins, Primal Scream, etc) fucking off south. Time for a total revival, and will the double cd of all their tunes appear in the shops anytime? Even the Chesterfields are out there on CD, while these one-time gods remain unavailable.

i once left a primitives gig to go to a bachelor pad gig that i knew started at midnight.

the prims were just too quiet and polite (aka boring), whereas, the bachelor pad, what little i can remember, not so.

I always liked the way they ended songs, usually in utter chaos

Haha yeah. Perfect example right there. Here's another unreleased one from Youtube. Chaotic ending is approx 6 mins long LOL.

Have it on the best authority that Bachelor Pad reissues are in the works. Would be great to have the three 12 inch singles and the various extraneous tracks on CD for the first time. Maybe live stuff and demos? Fingers crossed.

I played the album a lot BITD, bits of it still pop into my head now and then.

They are finally getting a reissue. Of sorts. A deluxe vinyl compilation album of their first 3 singles (A-sides) mixed with about half the album. There's a subsequent 10" with three or four more tracks. Now they will have more tracks to put on Spotify or whatever.

They also have a new, cobbled together video for "Meet the Lovely Jenny Brown". Not my favourite track of theirs - they were best when they were being totally out-there and chaotic, like on the original b-side of this one. Still, happy this happened.

I didn't post this before because I didn't think there was a Bachelor Pad thread, but Tommy Cherry died last Wednesday. RIP you madman.
