Hell on earth came in 1983 when the aforementioned hit the charts. It was Feargal Sharkey moaning "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. It never happens to meeeeeeeeeeeeee" to some really boring Vince Clarke folky-synth backing track. No wonder Alison Moyet ran away!!!!

What's your views on this track? Like or Hate?

It isn't too good is it? If memory serves, some of the more Erasure-y production aspects are fine, but Feargal sounded something like a pompous chipmunk with entitlement issues.

I have this on an 80's comp. with a lot of cool songs like "der kommissar". When I play it at work, this is the only one I race to the back to skip. I like erasure, too.

it's not bad at all. sadly the next single with neil arthur on vocals never materialised.
the next vince clarke project with paul quinn wasn't too bad either. I can proudly say that I saw erasure live and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fantastic single, one of the - if not actually the - best things Vince Clark ever did.

I agree with Frenchbloke that it's a shame the project wasn't pursued.

Was the project with Paul Quinn his (utterly wonderful) cover of Pale Blue Eyes, or did I miss that one?

OK... some of you have "different" perceptions of music! I do like Vince's Clarke's other work. I like Depeche Mode (pre 82), Yazoo, Erasure, (I also like "A Good Heart" and "Little Thief" by FS).... but as I said earlier this record by "Assembly" is - for me - Hell on Earth.

I like it! It was the last good record Feargal Sharkey ever made. I loved the Undertones but all of Sharkey's solo stuff was abysmal...the messy stomp of You Little Thief and the annoying sequencer running through A Good Heart.
