The name of the record is Padre? I'm having trouble finding anything out about it. Where did you find it / find out about it? Is it on slsk that you know of? (I'm excited to hear it and glad you started a thread btw).

My friend told me about it, and I found a mixed version in a DJ Hell set on slsk. I think it's coming out on Kitsuné, yeah I found it very difficult to find any info about it aswell, just lots of French sites about padres.

four weeks pass...
um, this may be my new very favorite tune of all time for the day. it makes me giddy in a spooky kinda way. perfect arkansas august heat giving way to cooler nights and betraying a sniff of autumn. i wanna hear it loud!

okay, i've searched the world over, and i even went on the internet, and still i can find no more than a slim paragraph on these dudes. what's their story? producers exclusively? djs? a shimmering, cronching live band that'll show vhsorbeta how it's done?

i've been looking for this for a while on slsk, with little success. anyone willing to host it?

It's out in the shops now and it's great, though really, I need someone to compile a disc of the best 2004 dance and send it to my London address. Listening to 'Carnaval' over and over these days.

i'll send you something

It's out now, it's very good. Very odd. I want to hear it in a club quite badly.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 08:49 (nineteen years ago) link

Steve, I k-, uh, shake your hand and owe you drinks.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 08:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Though I must remember to email you about it, obv.

'Carnaval' reminds me a lot of Noonday Underground – The Light Brigade (Cut Copy Mix), at least if you splice it with 'Doggystyle' a little. That goes some way to explaining why I like these guys so much. Ro, did you ever get round to hearing the 'Stand Back' remix?

Yeah it's good but I could never imagine a use for it. very nice though.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 13:54 (nineteen years ago) link

would someone be kind enough to send this to getmitchquick@gTAKETHISBITOUTmail.com? i hope i don't do this kind of thing too often because it bugs me when i see it on other threads but i *do* want to hear this.

one month passes...
DJing last night in our little place where we have a weekly night and it was dead and i was going on about 11:30 and the bartender says he's gonna shut it down early because it was dead. disappointing because i'd been looking forward to playing "padre" out and loud. so i went ahead and played it just to amuse myself. then i moved on expecting to have to wind it down. by midnight people started rolling in and began immediately dancing (and buying drinks) so the bartender says i can keep it going. so in a little bit i brought "Padre" in again (to the amusement of the 3 people who'd heard it earlier) and they all went nuts. as did i. had to take the headphones off and dance. it sounded so fucking good. incredible.

This record rules. I'd start my own London club night just hear it good and proper.
