I'd also have to agree with Rob Sheffield's assertion that she's aging more gracefully than Frank Thomas and Jeff Bagwell (?)

I'm listening to this album for the first time and it's blowing my damn mind! Greatest first-listen experience I've ever had with Kylie. The first six songs comprise an incredible run. I had heard that this was her sleeper classic record but I had no idea. "Too Far"!

OK now I've moved onto Light Years and it...doesn't seem as good

I have a lot of time for Light Years, but the albums either side are way stronger. Out of all the albums I've heard by her, that's the one where she's trying the hardest to please. I've always loved Your Disco Needs You although I can see why it grates on some people. My two highlights are I'm So High which has one of the best choruses she's ever done and Light Years, a thrilling Moroder-esque closer which should have been a single. There's definitely a little bit of filler on there and I've always hated the Robbie duet.

I checked out a bunch of her albums recently, having only heard Fever before (which is excellent throughout). I was a bit letdown because nothing came close to Fever, but each album has a track or two that shines. On this album, "Too Far" and "Some Kind of Bliss" are those standouts, both not at all what I would expect from Kylie
