A little back history:

How are people feeling about a new year/early Jan meet-up of some sort? I thought I might put something up on ILM as there are a couple of SF folks who don't really check over here.

-- @d@ml (nordicskilla@hotmail.com), December 21st, 2003.

i'm gonna be in NYC until the 4th of Jan, but i'd be down to come out and play sometime after that

-- JaXoN (jaso...), December 21st, 2003.

hey nordic i'm in SF from the 2-9 and something on the 3-8 would be supercool!

we TOTALLY need to do this! Kris should come for sure too, and i don't know who else is SF really?

-- Sterling Clover (s_clove...), December 21st, 2003.

Count me in as well...

-- Sean (saturns...), December 21st, 2003.

We need to do some for-real FAP planning.

Which day between 2-8 works best for people? Saturday the third sounds like a good default option.

Which location? Who's in, etc.?

-- Sterling Clover (s_clove...), December 23rd, 2003.

I'm in. I'll start a thread soon, Sterling (prob here on ILM). I think JaXoN said he would be interested if we do it after the 4th, so between 5-8th might be better. If not, Saturday the third sounds good.

As a relative newcomer, I am probably the worst person to pick a location, but maybe some of the more seasoned SF residents may have an idea?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 05:04 (twenty years ago) link

And if you can decipher all of that, you are eligible to come.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 05:05 (twenty years ago) link

(just kidding, obviously)

Still, who else is in? Come join me in talking Sterling's ear off about the Tweet album! (I suspect that I may be alone in this particular endeavour).

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 05:06 (twenty years ago) link

Also...I'm sure Leee, Sterling and Kyle will want to reminisce about the time they sat in a Cal lecture hall with Naked Man...or something.

Where is g! these days, anyway?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 05:08 (twenty years ago) link

I have the Tweet album, btw...

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 06:04 (twenty years ago) link

yeah, me too

JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 07:15 (twenty years ago) link

Let's all get together and talk about Tweet!

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 08:10 (twenty years ago) link

Well, I stand corrected. ;)

I'm in Chicago for the next week, so I will try and check back on this thread when I can. Or people can email me offline if they so wish - this is my real address.

Any ideas for a venue, then?

JaXoN, I was just walking thru your hood about an hour ago.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 22:42 (twenty years ago) link

offline=offlist

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 22:43 (twenty years ago) link

haha san francisco doesn't have hoods.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 22:59 (twenty years ago) link

:p

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 22:59 (twenty years ago) link

burbs maybe.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 23:02 (twenty years ago) link

JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 23:14 (twenty years ago) link

Speak yo' mind on Da Message Board.

TEH ONE AN ONLEY DEANN GULBAREY (deangulberry), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 00:07 (twenty years ago) link

okay i stand corrected -- never really thought of that as SF much though.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 21:25 (twenty years ago) link

East Bay bias? Moi?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 21:36 (twenty years ago) link

The Pinole FAP is surely the future of everything.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 21:36 (twenty years ago) link

nordique, i've got friends in town from tonight through sunday and
i'm going out of town on monday returning wednesday night.

sterling, i can recommend some walking tours through some hoods for you where you can talk to some people and you can share with them your stories of real urban reality.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 21:39 (twenty years ago) link

I'm your friend @d@m! You still don't have a time or place in mind, right? Anyway, keep me posted, I'll definately be in town.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 21:50 (twenty years ago) link

Great, Sean. I don't have a time or a place in mind because I am:

a)Lacking in organizational skills
b)Relatively new to these parts.
c)Generally obtuse

Any suggestions welcome.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 21:54 (twenty years ago) link

gygax don't be a dick.

anyway yeah keep this thread alive!

how does next wed sound? anybody have any place they'd like to suggest? (public transit accessible a plus)

sterling sterl esclobar, Wednesday, 31 December 2003 10:39 (twenty years ago) link

Wednesday sounds good to me.

I dunno - somewhere in the Tenderloin or the Haight?

...That's where people go, right?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 20:00 (twenty years ago) link

no-one goes to either of those places! it should be somewhere in the mission because my scope of experience doesn't extend much past 22nd street. that said, I may not make it since I have to work shitty hours from here til eternity.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 20:26 (twenty years ago) link

Wednesday is fine with me too, as is the Mission. I'd like to go somewhere with a good jukebox, but don't really know a lot of Mission bars. I'd suggest the Zeitgeist, which is cool, the only trouble with it is if you want to go somewhere else, there's nothing else in the immediate area (although nothing is that far away.)

Sean (Sean), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 20:36 (twenty years ago) link

I don't know the Mission at all well, so i would definitely be up for somewhere over there. Jukeboxes sound good, too.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 20:42 (twenty years ago) link

dalva on 16th st used to have the best jukebox in SF. It probably still has a good one. It is relatively quiet and kind of dark though.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 22:51 (twenty years ago) link

I'd just like to say that the Naked Guy is almost a decade before my time.

Leee Smith (Leee), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 22:52 (twenty years ago) link

yeah we had no naked guy in my time either. but stoney and yaweh dude and the banning and return of rick starr. so who else is in on wed? should we post this to ile too?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 1 January 2004 03:17 (twenty years ago) link

dalva, 8:00? ppl prefer earlier or later?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 4 January 2004 07:29 (twenty years ago) link

Either is fine for me. I might not be working that day, but Sarah doesn't get home until 5:00, and she'll probably want to come too. I can make it for 6:00/6:30 fine, but we probably won't make it a late one.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 4 January 2004 17:59 (twenty years ago) link

Dalva, 8:00 is cool.

Sean (Sean), Sunday, 4 January 2004 18:20 (twenty years ago) link

I could likely only make this if it's earlier, since I get off work at 5:00 and would either have to kill three hours in SF or go home and then go back to SF, and if I go home, I ain't leaving the house, history tells me. But my presence is hardly required since I won't get drunk, fall down, and provide years of endless stories.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Sunday, 4 January 2004 19:10 (twenty years ago) link

Your and Ani's presence is required! Maybe we make it earlier?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 4 January 2004 19:50 (twenty years ago) link

let me get back to you before I say anything definitive.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Monday, 5 January 2004 02:15 (twenty years ago) link

earlier works! 6:00?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Monday, 5 January 2004 08:04 (twenty years ago) link

6:00? 6:00!

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:07 (twenty years ago) link

I am ok with any time, btw.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:16 (twenty years ago) link

7:00? that way people can eat first (people being "me")

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:19 (twenty years ago) link

or perhaps less frustratingly, 6:00 is fine, and I will get there probably sometime shortly after 6:30 or so....

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:23 (twenty years ago) link

damn.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:47 (twenty years ago) link

So...who's in then? Is it at six or seven? I am working now, so I will be wearing a shirt of some kind, that's for sure.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 20:22 (twenty years ago) link

I'm back in town after two full weeks' worth of holiday-related rampage so I may drop in.

Nick Mirov (nick), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 20:49 (twenty years ago) link

I'll go if gygax will show up as well. When is this happening exactly? I can't find the date in this thread...

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 6 January 2004 20:54 (twenty years ago) link

Tomorrow. gygax! is otherwise indisposed, however.

Wed SF Sterling FAP

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 21:00 (twenty years ago) link

Or disposed, or something.
