I'm really trying to branch out, to expand my musical loves and knowledge and obsessions, and I've been having a tiny bit of luck with it thus far. I've, obv, discovered that Franz Ferdinand are TOTALLY "my speed", and have recently come to the realization that Division of Laura Lee are totally "my speed" as well. I'm also a HUGE HUGE HUGE "New Wave"/New Romantic fanatic, as many of you already know, and I won't even bother to mention the artist I know the most about and adore the most. So, what would you guys recommend for me, either new music-wise or "new to me" music-wise? The more obscure the better!

(but maybe not that one. there are some instrumental tracks of theirs, but i can't remember the names)

never been that into japan but will try their instrumentals - 'quiet life' might be the exact midpoint between the ymo track and 'planet earth' by duran duran :)

The bass on the YMO track reminds me of the bass on Eno's Another Green World. Percy Jones credits

surprisingly, having never heard it before in my life, Theme for Great Cities was on the radio last week. and this week he played a track that had been directly inspired by it.
Manic Street PreachersDreaming A City (Hugheskova)
( it's about an hour into this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0007b6s just after the session version of Being Boiled)

Hmm, that's way too rawwwk. I think the main appeal of the YMO thing (which Theme for Great Cities doesn't totally capture) is slow and moody synths over frenetic drums. I've been scouring playlists of 80s and modern synth instrumentals but finding that juxtaposition is hard. Closest I've come might be Stewart Copeland's theme to The Equalizer! (Even then only the first bit.)
