It came out soon after the original album. dlp9001 is OTM with his comment - it's a terrific complement to L'Aventura

This appears to be the only Dean and Britta thread as such, so I'll put this here:

Between 1964 and 1966, Andy Warhol shot nearly 500 Screen Tests, beautiful and revealing portraits of hundreds of different individuals, from the famous to the anonymous, all visitors to his studio, the Factory. Subjects were captured in stark relief by a strong keylight, and filmed by Warhol with his stationary 16mm Bolex camera on silent, black and white, 100-foot rolls of film. The resulting two-and-a-half-minute film reels were then screened in slow motion, resulting in a fascinating collection of four-minute masterpieces that startle and entrance, mesmerizing in the purest sense of the word. 13 Most Beautiful... Songs for Andy Warhol's Screen Tests features 13 of Warhol's classic silent film portraits. Subjects include Nico, Lou Reed, Edie Sedgwick, Dennis Hopper, and more. Songwriters Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips, formerly of the band Luna and currently recording as Dean & Britta, incorporated original compositions as well as cover songs to create new soundtracks for the 13 films. 13 Most Beautiful...Songs for Andy Warhol's Screen Tests will screen at the Los Angeles Film Festival this Saturday, June 20 with Dean and Britta performing their soundtrack live.http://www.deanandbritta.com/

I came across the above DVD, unaware of its existence, and bought it right away (even though it was quite expensive). Boy, what a treat! The screen tests are, well yes, beautiful, and fascinating. I didn't really know what to expect from the soundtrack (love Galaxie 500 but know nearly nothing of what Wareham did after the split) but it's a mesmerizing listen. Awesome tracks, and I was thrilled to see "Not a Young Man Anymore" listed! Wareham's a VU trainspotter obviously, but there's something fantastic about imagining him finding the mp3 on the internet and deciding to record it for Reed's score :) Anyway, I endorse everyone to get a copy. Here's the tracklist with some additional info as to where the songs originate from.
Ann Buchanan: "Ann Buchanan Theme" (Phillips, Wareham; new)Paul America: "Teenage Lightning (and Lonely Highways)" (Wareham, Eden, Kember, Phillips, Wall; re-recorded Luna song)Edie Sedgwick: "It Don't Rain in Beverly Hills" (Early, Boyette, Kramer, Kress, Kress, Max; Sweden cover)Billy Name: "Silver Factory Theme" (Phillips, Wareham, LaMarca, Sumrow; new)Susan Bottomly: "International Velvet Theme" (Wareham; new)Dennis Hopper: "Herringbone Tweed" (Luna; re-recorded, previously "The Enabler")Mary Woronov: "I Found It Not So" (Porpora; Cheval Sombre cover (on which both Wareham and Phillips played)Nico: "I'll Keep It With Mine" (Dylan cover)Freddy Herko: "Incandescent Innocent" (Wareham, Phillips, LaMarca, Sumrow; new)Richard Rheem: "Richard Rheem Theme" (Wareham; new)Ingrid Superstar: "Eyes in Your Smoke" (Wareham; rewritten Luna b-side)Lou Reed: "Not A Young Man Anymore” (Reed, Cale, Morrison, Tucker; VU cover)Jane Holzer: "Knives From Bavaria" (Wareham; new)

So little talk about such a successful project. The CD's just been released. Don't sleep on this, the music's fantastic. Currently playing the dvd again. Edie's eye(brow)s are amazing...

xpost hey tyler - yeah, the album's great. broody, intense (though this almost certainly is hightened by watching the accompanying screentests - such as the one starting right now at my home, dennis hopper. awesome!), some terrific guitarwork from dean, much more upfront then on other 'recent' releases

I checked out on Luna/Dean a decade ago but I heard their cover of the lost VU song and it was fantastic.

Dean & Britta & Sonic back together again for a Christmas album:
https://deanandbritta.bandcamp.com/album/a-peace-of-us
Sounds much like you'd expect (reminds me a little of Tracey Thorn's Tinsel and Lights); opens with a lovely version of David Berman's "Snow Is Falling in Manhattan". No "Egg Nog", though, boo.
