Recommend me stuff what sounds like Rose Royce's "Love Don't Live Here Anymore"

'cos that song is GREAT.

Moody, spare soul ballads with late 70s/early 80s synthy production. I would turn to Dusty Groove, which stocks tons of this stuff, but they like EVERYTHING and thus aren't terribly trustworthy.

oooh i do know that one and it's good. isn't that much ealier though? i'm looking specifically for that late 70s/early 80s stuff with the slightly cheesy synths.

three years pass...
recently picked up this record because of this thread. love this song to death. heard it on the radio last week and it was followed by the Isley Brother's "Between the sheets" which totally fits in w/this sound. sexy and synthy.

i downloaded that Denice Williams album "This is Nicey" but "free" was really the only song on the album i really liked.

i bought a DC LaRue album "Star, Baby" but didn't like it. i'll search out yr track.

the Deniece Williams album u want is Niecy from 1982. produced by Thom Bell, it's sweet. ditto My Melody from the year before though that album is more lush and string-sectioned.

i lied upthread. it wasn't the Isley's 'Between the Sheets', it was 'For the Love of You'. heard both songs on the same radio station last night. followed closely by the Floater's "Float On" which steve shasta has somehow convinced me is one of the best songs and i'm not fighting back
