They've aged well.

billstevejim, Friday, 1 April 2011 18:34 (thirteen years ago) link

I think they're just masters of disguise.

ooh, 3 unreleased tracks, Angel, Good for You, How Do You Do It (are these the same as those Kevin/Belinda/Cowboy songs from a while back?)

zappi, Thursday, 22 March 2012 15:26 (twelve years ago) link

xp lol. also, 'releasing' is spelled wrong so they were obviously hacked.

EP's

grimes - (the elder scrolls iv:) oblivion (diamonddave85), Thursday, 22 March 2012 19:38 (twelve years ago) link

no vinyl

:(

oh, but you haven't seen that interview shields did not too recently tho, no? he emphasized his love for vinyl and how premium packaging would be in the vinyl. or that he would package cd's with the vinyl rather than have a "lesser" version. something along those lines. might be found up-thread.

altho i imagine it'll follow standard formatting: cd version, vinyl version

kelpolaris, Thursday, 22 March 2012 19:38 (twelve years ago) link

wait - what didn't i read?

kelpolaris, Thursday, 22 March 2012 19:42 (twelve years ago) link

I read that interview, he was referring to his own label, not to Sony.

would buy vinyl version with CD included, love it when bands do that (school of seven bells, M83)

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Thursday, 22 March 2012 19:51 (twelve years ago) link

darn darn.

still kinda bewildered sony both has an irish adjunct and that mbv has chosen this. i thought shields & co. all lived in london at this point?

kelpolaris, Thursday, 22 March 2012 19:55 (twelve years ago) link

am i right in thinking this must be the only thing NOT on these that came out in the 90s?

all things must pass (shaane), Thursday, 22 March 2012 20:24 (twelve years ago) link

The Wire cover really really should be on there as well.

Venga, Thursday, 22 March 2012 20:29 (twelve years ago) link

I'd like a good copy of "2" while we're asking.

all things must pass (shaane), Thursday, 22 March 2012 20:44 (twelve years ago) link

Also the remix of "Soon" is missing

Mark G, Thursday, 22 March 2012 21:16 (twelve years ago) link

This just in from Kevin Shields: "I had forgotten about that Wire cover. Going to delay the reissues for a year or two so I can remaster it."

tylerw, Thursday, 22 March 2012 21:30 (twelve years ago) link

yeah, "2" from la la la human steps would be da bomz

fwiw, i think mbv's cover of map reference is one of the greatest covers of all time. not just because i'm a fan, but b/c it epitomizes what a cover really and truly should be

one month passes...

Not in my hands - from their Facebook page.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 27 April 2012 17:02 (eleven years ago) link

An appropriate cover for the comp there.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 27 April 2012 17:06 (eleven years ago) link

is anyone putting these out in the US, or am i gonna have to import?.
for some reason amazon has them listed at like $50 apiece.

BringTheAuBonPain, Friday, 27 April 2012 22:00 (eleven years ago) link

I pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk where they're about £9 + shipping which comes out to about $20/each.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 27 April 2012 22:09 (eleven years ago) link

Actually, I just checked and it was only $44.87 for all three shipped to the US.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 27 April 2012 22:12 (eleven years ago) link

I am going to play these so loud.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 27 April 2012 22:13 (eleven years ago) link

hmmm so only 2 of these correlate with those 3 songs that leaked a while back, interesting!

zappi, Friday, 27 April 2012 22:15 (eleven years ago) link

hmmm. don't like How Do You Do It at all.

heavy is the head that eats the crayons (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 27 April 2012 22:20 (eleven years ago) link

thanks, spencer. just pre-ordered.

BringTheAuBonPain, Friday, 27 April 2012 23:34 (eleven years ago) link

No problem. You might want to check US Amazon.com two days before it ships from the UK to see if the price has gone down here - though I doubt it will.

Oh man, the end of Angel is so

<3

Mad God 40/40 (Z S), Saturday, 28 April 2012 01:21 (eleven years ago) link

why do i feel like the new mix of "angel/bilinda song" is minutely, but noticeably enough, slower?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vykf4_A9owU

kelpolaris, Saturday, 28 April 2012 06:35 (eleven years ago) link

If it is slower, then it's entirely possible that during the original mastering somebody asked for it to be speeded up slightly, it might not have been written down in the mastering notes and/or Shields forgot during the remastering process.

Dick Move's Wardrobe (MaresNest), Saturday, 28 April 2012 07:58 (eleven years ago) link

I guess it was a bit of a rush to get these remasters out, so it would be easy for something like that to be missed.
