The Rich/Lustmord 'Stalker' album is dark and creepy and great but i haven't heard much else from the man.

How is the rest of his output: ambient greatness or new age bollocks?

Heh. I was actually listening to that last night! COINCEDENCE?

COINCEDENCE?

Perhaps, but perhaps not ... NED "FCUSSEN" RAGGET! I know who you really are.

"Bestiary" by Robert Rich is some excellent analog strangeness. Much recommended if you like gurgling analog synths that sound like they have been left out in the swamp creating a soundtrack for the insect world.

I can't help but think that if this album came out of a label/artist in Germany, that the idm/glich/non-dance electronic music people would be flying the flag of its greatness.

Other than the "Stalker" record, the only other one I have is "Soma", which is a early 90s collaboration with Steve Roach. It is more of a lush ambient record with not quite as much inventive sounds. It isn't a bad listen, but it is a step down from Rich or Roach's other records that I have.

If you like "Stalker", you should check out some Paul Schutze like "Deus Ex Machina" or "The Surgery of Touch".

He posted a reply to the editor of Wired about the theory that an artist can survive with 1000 fans. Insigthful:

I don’t think it tops last year’s Tactile Ground (I prefer his darker, subtler, more ambiguous moods) but it’s typically excellent.

yeah the darker vibe is cool no doubt but this mood reached me so hard today

Calmest I've ever heard him, I think! (not heard all of his stuff) I too am a sucker for his darker stuff but this hits the spot, I have to say.
