Yesterday, I did something I rarely do . . . I bought three big new releases at once:

Steely Dan, Everything Must Go

Radiohead, Hail to the Theif

Lucinda Williams, World Without Tears

So . . . I'm thinking at least one of these will get played rarely, if at all, one will be a mild pleasure, and the third will become a fave of the year. I just have no idea which is which.

So far, I've only listened to the Dan, which I must say actually reminds me of The Royal Scam without the fancy production and tamer guitar solos.

I think with all certainty that I'd rather put the soggy, lifeless remains of a dead pregnant frog in my mouth that subject myself to the new albums by either Steely Dan or Lucinda Williams, so my money's on the Radiohead album.

Steely Dan lost its bloodflow years ago. Lucinda's new one is good, but the song she keeps playing on talk shows is horrible and will stain your memory of the album forever. Radiohead's is another solid release by the cockeyed midget and his band of gangly noodlers. Hail to the Thief should be the winner. Maybe not. Maybe not.
(i'm already sorry for that horrible reference)

Steely Dan > Lucinda Williams > Radiohead.
