to my knowledge this hasn't yet been done. based on what i've just recently heard, which is their second album tracks 1-9, classic.

yes, Stress: The Extinction Agenda, definitely classic. First album has not aged well, but has some moments (like "Fried Chicken"). Equinox was also spotty but worth getting. Pharoah Monch's solo stuff, inexplicably, was garbage.

but "Stress" is one of my top 5 favorite hip hop singles of all time

The new one has high points. Not as great as IA, though.

Prince Po's solo records have been -- consistent. Not spectacular.

First album has not aged well

^^^^^^ not true. it has some of paul c's finest

also check the extra p stress remix

i always liked 'somehow someway' off equinox

pharoahe's 1st album is great. fuck that one from last year though. prince po's solo records was also pretty forgettable

Decisions from 1996's America Is Dying Slowly compilation is a lost classic. The comp has some other moments on it too.

Not a huge fan of all the dated anti-AIDS polemic on that comp, but the Money Boss Players one is a really standout track.

ten years pass...

been back into these guys lately. they were some really intense folks back in the 90s.

i mean, holy shit this song (massive trigger warning, btw):

over two decades later and i still can't decide if it's good or i'm just kind of shocked by the shit they were saying. i still love the equinox the most of their three albums; and truly a perfect stopping point for them.

also re: pappawheelie's post — yes, they had some fairly excellent stray tracks from the 96-97 equinox era. "decisions" probably the best of that lot:

more than anything (and the real reason for upping this topic) "soundman" feels like such an amazing lost classic to me. seems like a mistake not to release it as a single:
