Wow. Wouldn't it be something if, in the spirit of all the other recent reunions of ahead-of-their-time postpunk groups, Wynn got back together with Karl Precoda and Kendra Smith (and Dennis Duck too, I suppose)? I'd drive a few hundred miles to see that.

Search: the Gutterball album he did with members of House of Freaks. Awesome stuff.

I'd love to see a reunion, too. Really, I'd be happy if Karl Precoda would just get off his ass and play guitar again anywhere.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a reunion - it's not that anyone in the band actively hates each other, it's more of a lack of interest on Precoda's (and, I'm guessing, Smith's) part.

Wynn - Some interesting pop stuff on his proper solo albums, but i lost interest after the third one or so.
Gutterball - Semi-classic first album. Recorded in something like 48 hours and it shows, in a good way. Other albums, meh.
LDOM - Classic, but i'm a freak.
DS reunion will never happen. Too many people hate Wynn. And even if they didn't, i suspect there'd be little interest. I'd rather see Last Days of May at this point.

Ahem!
I released the first Last Days Of May album on No-Fi. Email me and I'll get you the details. Albums 2 & 3 came out on Squealer.

I was really pleasantly surprised by Here Come The Miracles when it came out. Well, actually I was quite excited, per my slavering review. It still holds up well. I felt Static Transmission (2003) was kind of samey at the time, but since I've picked up ...Tick...Tick...Tick (2006) and Crossing Dragon Bridge (2008), I need to rehear it, because this is all really good. He continued his association with crime noir author George Pelecanos, who co-wrote "Cindy, It Was Always You." No wonder the stuff went well with my noir mix of Gallon Drunk, Flaming Stars, Gun Club, etc. while I was reading Cathi Unsworth's Bad Penny Blues.

Gotta say, it kicks ass right out of the gate. But I've found his solo work really patchy, another artist who would benefit greatly from a well-chosen anthology.

I was just browsing through the gajillion new albums available on eMusic via the Universal dump, happened across the Danny and Dusty album, and thought, Hey! Steve Wynn! Whatever happened to him?
That's all I got.

kinda lost track after static transmission, but here comes the miracles was fab, and the miracles really are a pretty fucking great live band.

Here Come the Miracles was great, and there was a record from about 4 years ago that I played all the time.

Wasn't aware that Wynn had a box set:
...an 11-CD set that chronicles, with lavish deluxe editions, the guitar-driven albums Wynn recorded between 1995 and 2005, most of which have been long out-of-print...166 tracks, 57 of them totally unreleased, plus 31 other rarities! That’s right…over half of this 11-CD set consists of either hitherto unknown recordings or tracks that have been almost impossible to find! As for the other tracks, they hail from the following albums: the American releases Melting In The Dark, Sweetness and Light, My Midnight, Here Come The Miracles, Static Transmission, and …Tick…Tick…Tick, and the German-only compilation entitled The Emusic Singles Collection (rare tracks from another European-only release, a collection of rarities entitled Pick of the Litter, appear here as well).
