Intentional omission. River Deep Mountain High is a Tina record produced by Spector.

Not--despite the credits--an Ike & Tina Turner record.

And I prefer the live version arranged by Ike, by the way.

I've only ever really liked one of their records, but it may be the greatest single of all time: "I Think It's Gonna Work Out Fine."

Color me whacked, I loved 'em all, from "I'm Blue (shooby dooby dooby dooby do)" to when they were collected on their album Dynamite to the white-minstrel faced Ike & Tina eating watermelon on The Hunter with an absolute killer version of that song on into Acid Queen (and don't forget the "Flexagon" album) all the way on into the '80s when Carter produced her for her big comeback record. Tina epitomizes soul and spirit, she is an immense talent. She also has a voice that can't be beat, is the most sympathetic of singers and can sing a duet with nearly anyone. She also has a great sense of humor, is a boss dancer, cool wheels, and now has acquired an affected-sounded English accent from being in Europe that makes people say ("Where'd she get that accent" to which I can always truthfully reply, "Nutbush, Texas". )

Their earliest work makes me the happiest, though.

I heard Phil Spector paid Ike Turner not to show up while he (Spector) completed "River Deep, Mountain High" with Tina. Well, whatever he did worked.
