I can't think of enough good things to say about these guys. If I didn't know better and someone told me to check out this hot new metal/folk/gypsy/ska band who sang mostly in Romanian I think I'd tell them to play tig with buses. But a more scintillating band I can't remember hearing for a long time. Any other closet fans willing to give me a wave?

I've never heard of them, but they sound hella intriguing.

ambrose -- i studied in Moscow from 1980-83. it sure must look rather different round there by now, obv...
(haven't been to Russia at all for at least a dozen years, methinks)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 10:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeah moscow is mental to the maXor
dont think you'd recognise the business plazas, clubs that cost $3 mill to kit out etc etc etc opulent piece of crap
go back there to freak yourself out. having seen it in its present incarnation, and got to know it fairly well, i cant even imagine what it must have been like when you were there.
did you enjoy it?

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 12:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

did you enjoy it?
-- ambrose

ho-ho...! there's a short answer. and a longish answer. to that question.
(i'll scrap, mercifully, the long one)
the shorter dub 'd run smth like this: enjoyed just some of it; kind of "enjoyed" a few other bits; was driven nearly nuts by most of it; found some of the best friends i've ever had. ;-)

I did the 1999-2000 stint on Grazhdanskii Prospekt in SPb, never made it to Spitfire, that sounds like a Moscow den. I saw ZsZ in Spartak in Petersburg, and they utterly blew me away, around the time of Òû ìåíÿ îñòàâèëà but LONG before they hit the big time with Âèäåëè íî÷ü. Good to have some russophiles on board!
