xpost Does Margo Price get played on Country radio, though? I'm not sure she's in danger of getting dropped from npr or wxpn for badmouthing Trump.

uh i would wager sturgill had about one max two songs on the radio
both acts have been dropped from the radio and shunned from the nashville scene but probably had one or two tracks on the radio at one point in their careers
― bald butte (∞), Friday, 23 February 2018 18:24 (six years ago) link
Until I see proof I'm going to keep believing that any Sturgill song that ended up on a mainstream Country radio playlist was put there by someone who was immediately terminated.
Not sure what we're arguing about here. Alt-Country artists, and artists who've been exiled from radio are free to be vocal about left sympathies in ways that Country stars are not.

She said more than that it might be good to have a woman as leader, though. She said she really likes May, that she's "wonderful" and "sensible".

Iggy Pop voted for Reagan btw:
"I've been waiting for someone who could communicate the joys of liberty as compared to the joys of equality", Iggy Pop in Zigzag magazine, on why he supported Ronald Reagan, quoted in Joe Ambrose, Gimme Danger: The Life and Times of Iggy Pop, Omnibus Books, 2004, p. 199.

I was referring to this: https://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2007/oct/13/the10rightwingrockers
The meeting of the King and the President at the White House on 21 December 1970 was initiated by Elvis himself. Presley wrote a long, rambling six-page letter to Nixon, expressing his concern for the country and suggesting he could use his position to help as 'the drug culture, the hippie elements, the SDS, Black Panthers etc do not consider me as their enemy'. Presley also suggested he be made a 'Federal Agent-at-Large' in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. In their face-to-face meeting, Presley stressed his love of his country and told Nixon he was 'on your side'. He also said he had been studying 'communist brainwashing' and that the Beatles had been 'a real force for anti-American spirit'. Presley gave Nixon a commemorative World War II Colt 45, which the president sent him a thank you letter. The picture of Elvis and Nixon is the most requested item from the US National Archive, more so than the Bill of Rights or the Constitution of the United States.

There are extremely few musicians who are right wing and who I am or have been interested in - off the top of my head I can think of Bryan Ferry and that's about it. But there are many writers (admittedly not contemporary ones).

Regarding the Elvis/Nixon thing, based on Careless Love, just about everything Elvis did from 1972 onward was done on drugs, for drugs. He wanted the badge from Nixon to travel with drugs and guns with impunity. It’s tragic how bad he got.

xpost metal's extreme right/fascism problem has been a hard stumbling block for me since I started listening to it. not just the musicians, man sometimes you're just chilling with a metal fan and then he just drops something anti-Semitic or extremely racist and then looks at you funny when you look at him with a judgmental eye.
I mean, I bought a dirty rap album growing up, and maybe I worried the dude wasn't a good guy and had a rap sheet. I bought a 2nd wave black metal album, I had to worry that I was giving money to dudes who viewed the Third Reich as a "missed opportunity".

A bunch of great conductors and composers were actively involved with the actual Third Reich, although I don't think any of them are still able to collect royalties.

A couple of Dictators have lost their minds on social media with their conservative views.
Dick Manitoba has become fiercely Zionist and was anti-Obama, pro-Netinyahu and very pro-Trump. A couple years ago be blocked me on Facebook when I explained why I thought Netanyahu was a neocon warmonger who did not help Israel and pointed out that I did so as a Jew (on mom's side even though dad's last name is far from Jewish) and before he blocked me he sent me a message that I was the kind of jew they threw in the ovens.
Also Ross The Boss is a notorious pro-Trump derp. My run in on Facebook was a little less contentious - he called me a "shitbird" when I said something about Trump he didn't like on a mutual friend's page. I guess it makes more sense when you consider he was in Manowar too.
