Music is as good as it's ever been! If you'd actually lived through the "classic rock" era, you would have been subjected to as much mainstream cr@p as we hear in the 2020s. For every Beatles there was a 1910 Fruitgum Company; for every Led Zeplin there was a Bay City Rollers. It's just that we have a selective cultural memory and we generally only remember the greatest artists of that era. These days the greatest artists are actually OUTSIDE of the mainstream due to algorithms / atomization / death of the monoculture. Point is, there's lots of "classic" modern music out there if you know where to look for it. I'd recommend starting with something like Nonagon Infinity by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, or Polygondwanaland by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, or Omnium Gatherum by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. I also really like what I've heard of the singer songwriter Jesse Welles (and he apparently HATES IT when people call him the "New Dylan", LOL). I hope that helps!
