Talk Talk wins this easily for me, because it's an album I listen to regularly whereas With Sympathy is something I only listen to once every 10 years out of curiousity.

the party’s overall the way, every song is a heartbreaking pink cloud of romantic melancholy. candy, ffs

I don’t even like later talk talk that much but THIS album **swoooon**

also, vocal wise Mark Hollis kills it whereas Al… does a good job! with sympathy is still cool and very good, tho, esp the first two songs

The extended version is one of the best things ever. That steady but intense percussion avalanche leading to the classical piano break - chef's kiss

If the first Freur album was in the running I might even consider that

As it stands I still have not heard any Ministry album (just keep forgetting to) and The Party's Over is pretty damn good

I like Work For Love and Revenge but def not as much as Talk Talk and Today

The Party's Over is deeply under-appreciated. Even listening to a worn cassette tape from the library it felt full of feeling; even the b-sides "Strike Up the Band" and "?" are decent.
Don't know the Ministry album; after browsing through Jourgensen's idiotic memoirs in the bookstore exploring his work is not a priority.

Yeah I feel it gets written off as “the synth pop album that isn’t representive” but it’s not some poppy throwaway. As important a transition in this sound as the later Japan albums.
