I don’t like quirked up random ass sounds glooped onto a DAW electronic music. In 2013ish this became a part of a ubiquity of high fidelity sounds w/ novel composition structures but aside from a few releases this style has been played out & frankly annoying for some time now

Good to hear about Recollection GRM. Still think vinyl is not the right format for this music, and later releases were often quite poorly pressed - unintended skips and crackles galore.

what i meant is that i tend to try to support artists on Bandcamp that are making good stuff but don’t have in excess of like 700 people with the record in their collections. i know that is a small number, but a few of the records that i think were last year’s best have like 78 people supporting it. just a matter of trying to help the even smaller guy

is there somewhere where you get that number or do you just have to count up the little user tiles on the album page?

ok, that makes sense, unfortunately I often buy a lot of single tracks and it seems like they only show up in a collection if a user also bought them as a single track. In other words, if someone buys the full album, the individual track doesn't seem to show up in their collection.

oh I know. it’s also all the LA tasteful ambience people I know kept raving about it. they should know! but i am icked out by the vibes of that scene.

In the spirit of this thread, I would very much appreciate recommendations from the thread participants that fit the following criteria:

1. released within the last month (i.e. 2023)
2. pay what u want or reasonably priced digital option
3. shorter tracks in general, open to a mix of short & long, or medium (4-6 minutes is medium to me, less is short, 7+ is long)
4. minimal to no profanity
5. generally in the weird/wild/experimental category but I am a sucker for pretty drones and melodies, don't care abt vocals/lyrics as much. all genres acceptable really.
