(almost called it something like Rolling Bandcamp Club Music but didn't, don't @ me)

change display name (Jordan), Tuesday, 3 January 2023 20:48 (one year ago) link

I'm sure I posted this in last year's thread but I also kinda slept on it (now recognizing it as tracks I heard a friend play out) and it's worth another mention

Jabes - Ripples/Body Said (Timedance)

change display name (Jordan), Tuesday, 3 January 2023 21:01 (one year ago) link

Got this at year's end, more great shit from the SVBKVLT gang

Osheyack, 'Intimate Publics'

two weeks pass...

First great release of the year, Rian Treanor & Ocen James (a Ugandan fiddle player) on Nyege Nyege, really fun and interesting record

change display name (Jordan), Friday, 20 January 2023 19:30 (one year ago) link

Agreed, it's great!

Frederik B, Saturday, 21 January 2023 08:21 (one year ago) link

count me in as well. first album to go in my 2023 Potential EOY Albums playlist.
not all the tracks work for me (I find things like “As It Happens” too ‘experimental’, for want of a better descriptor), but the highs are Himalaya-like (“Agoya” and “Naassaccade”!).

bonus points for occasionally triggering my Palais Schaumburg pleasure centres.

the shaker intro bit the shaker outro in the tail, hard (breastcrawl), Friday, 27 January 2023 20:32 (one year ago) link

Fantastic album, found the second half much more to my liking

Some huge shiny but quirky bangers here:

change display name (Jordan), Friday, 27 January 2023 21:06 (one year ago) link

Pretty slamming comp from last fall:

Jersey club edits:

Another reliably solid EP from DJ Swisha & Kush Jones

Hyper electro beats with hand percussion and wobbly bass

More ballroom bangers from DJ Delish:

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 8 February 2023 20:16 (one year ago) link

Damn, that 8+ min gospel house track on the DJ Delish EP

I bet this sounds immense on a soundsystem:
(Toumba EP on Hessle Audio)

And I bet this sounds even more immense -
Cocktail Party Effect - Fixing the Roof EP (Nervous Horizon)

DJ Manny - Feet Start Dancing EP
Still my favorite Teklifer after Rashad

change display name (Jordan), Monday, 13 February 2023 16:50 (one year ago) link

Japanese hard af footwork-ish tracks at 140 bpm with impeccable sound design, on Trekkie Trax I believe

Now I'm off to listen to the Skrillex album

thank you for your service, Jordan!

Bandcamp Friday, so --

Piezo - Diamonds/Mattone
Outstanding instrumental dancehall & slo-mo dembow 2 tracker, LIYL that last Objekt EP

Michael Ange - Memory Lane/Catch Me Ravin
Super fun breaks + piano house + rave samples

Air Max '97 - Enthusiast
AM97 goes techno, kinda. Both hard & fun (and sometimes funny!).

Le Dom - Hanma
It's a single but I'm always happy to hear new Le Dom. That last minute, whew. Seems like everyone's on a techno tip!

Since that's the vibe, I'll go ahead and post this new release on my label, which is explicitly four-on-the-floor.
drowt - LRL003

And finally the preview tracks from this upcoming twofold record are sounding absolutely fantastic, like a meld of club, juke, industrial/cinematic deconstructed sounds, and the density and energy of the some of the stuff on Nyege Nyege.

JSPORT - Out of Bounds EP
Five very DJ-able hard drum-ish tracks

change display name (Jordan), Friday, 3 March 2023 21:55 (eleven months ago) link

I don't really follow this stuff but picked this one up lately, it's very nice. A wee bit DJ Pythonish and sort of what I imagine Livity Sound are pushing these days

DJ Ojo - Coiled up

paolo, Saturday, 4 March 2023 10:39 (eleven months ago) link

I bet this sounds immense on a soundsystem:
(Toumba EP on Hessle Audio)

This is terrific, the first Hessle Audio 12 I've bought in years

paolo, Saturday, 4 March 2023 10:40 (eleven months ago) link

High energy tracks from GRRL on Jubilee's Magic City label, which usually features updated takes on Miami Bass:

Enjoyable comp from Scottish label N-Face, which is new to me, although there are a few familiar names here:
Very clean and punchy

Nikki Nair & Sam Binga - The Brislanta EP
Fun & functional & fresh, of course

change display name (Jordan), Friday, 10 March 2023 19:41 (eleven months ago) link

I've been playing that Toumba tune out lately and it sounds incredible on big speakers.

Yay Sam Binga and Nikki Nair - always deliver!

Just came to say that the Amor Satyr EP you rec'd above, Jordan, is just unstoppable.

Goose Bigelow, Fowl Gigolo (the table is the table), Sunday, 19 March 2023 16:04 (eleven months ago) link

I missed this all-drums record from Clap! Clap! and a percussionist last year, so fucking good

And actually a similar vibe on this brand new one on Maloca
Coen - Slop, Drop & Roll

And some fantastic remixes of the last SHALT EP, LIYL dystopian dancehall

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 22 March 2023 19:33 (eleven months ago) link

amor satyr is so good!

ludicrously capacious bag (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 28 March 2023 18:29 (ten months ago) link

It's true, those Indian sound clash videos are ridiculous, Nyege Nyege is right on it:

Lots of hot records coming out in the next few weeks, but I'm trying not to post stuff that's still in pre-order status.

In the meantime this one of mine was released the other day, been waiting for it to come out for awhile. :)

Also from the twitter crew, I enjoyed this four-tracker of 100 bpm tracks from lighght:

And, uh, this four-tracker of 100 bpm tracks from Morwell:

Some Bandcamp Friday drops:

Moveltraxx - Street Bangers Factory 23
Really fun Moveltraxx comp with DJ Earl doing a disco flip, Traxman and DJ Deeon (!) with some booty bass, throwback r&b and jazz flips:

INVT - Latin Bass Edit Pack
I can't keep up with all the INVT releases but this is a fun edit pack of pure club tools

Gaultier - Nausea Signal Studies
Bass music with more of an extended hardware jam element

change display name (Jordan), Friday, 7 April 2023 14:07 (ten months ago) link

New comp from French club label (re)sources:
The last two tracks are crazy

GREG - Jazz Net
Colorful dancehall-based stuff, the Simo Cell remix has been getting played a lot

Another new Amor Satyr EP coming up, electro x trance x baile funk

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 19 April 2023 18:09 (ten months ago) link

twofold - Black Armor LP
Dense drum programming mayhem

DJ Finale - Mille Morceau LP
Really varied set of Congolese dance music on Nyege Nyege

Peder Mannerfelt - Hyperchase EP
100 bpm tracks in the Nervous Horizon house style

Tom Fool - Pure
Pure Garage euphoria

New Bok Bok on Night Slugs, what year is this again? :)))
Sounds like all the tracks were made from the same session, or from resampling each other?

EP of trippy, pretty, widescreen folk + beats + sound design from mmph on svbkvlt:
Really cool, I really like his stuff.

I posted this on the ravey bangers thread, but just perfect & unassuming breakbeat bangers, impeccably mixed -
Greg May - BNGRZ004

Random Restaurateur (Jordan), Thursday, 27 April 2023 21:01 (nine months ago) link

Piezo - Odd Hooks (ANSIA006)
Fantastic EP, really well-written/constructed tracks and A+ hi-fi sound design

New Danifox on Principe sounding great -

Random Restaurateur (Jordan), Friday, 28 April 2023 20:15 (nine months ago) link

Another new one from Amor Satyr x Siu Mata:
Lots of 150 bpm momentum, hard but with a light and dubby touch, can instantly picture these in a mix

Byrell the Great
Impeccable ballroom

Lechuga Zafiro - Dedo
Absolutely killing loosie from LZ, who I've missed

Metrist - Pollen pt. III (Timedance)
This is out now and is just fantastic.

Absolutely killer comp from a French label, loosely dub-inspired club tracks with a georg-i number, really they're all hits:

So did you go?

Going through some new releases for the first time in a bit --

Piezo - Cyclic Wavez EP on Nervous Horizon
Some stellar quirky bangers, check out 'Bbent'

MM & NKC - Grindhouse EP on Even the Strong
I'm kinda digging this return to 110 bpm early '10s beats, also brings to mind hyphy, Neptunes, b-boy battles, etc

Impey & Kevin JZ Prodigy - Give It 2 Me
This beat has a similar slight throwback vibe to me too, I'm into it, and of course the legendary KJZP makes any beat sound amazing

Ploy - For when we haven't slept EP
I don't necessarily love the vocal samples on these...

Nikki Nair + Breaka + Thys - Extra Playtime
Just delightful rough-edged bangers

Random Restaurateur (Jordan), Friday, 4 August 2023 17:17 (six months ago) link

i'm loving that nikki nair. piezo impressing me too. sorry to plop into your great thread with this but if you hear anything you like that's 120-135 bpm please don't hesitate to post it lol. but that probably would make it non-non bobbins or techno, idk.

ꙮ (map), Friday, 4 August 2023 19:25 (six months ago) link

i guess the ploy is slower. i need to dig back through the thread.

ꙮ (map), Friday, 4 August 2023 19:29 (six months ago) link

Ooh, have you heard the new BFTT EP? All four-on-the-floor and I think they're all stunners (tracks 2 and 3 are in your range).

I've got something coming out that I want to send you, but I'll wait until it's mastered and has a release date. :)

Random Restaurateur (Jordan), Friday, 4 August 2023 19:56 (six months ago) link

New Peatbog Faeries album is fantastic. Their best since the 2000s. This isn't always despite the inclusion of guest vocals on some songs which is a first for them and which frequently work very well. The only one which doesn't quite work for me (yet?) is The Sister of Moses which is a straight up folk ballad. But tracks like The Humours of Ardnamurchan, Innes Drinks the Bru and The Poozies Visit to Carbost are marvellous, reminiscent of their best mid-period work (which is only slightly after their peak and only slightly beneath it). Really sympathetic production too.

i did not go, I’m not living in the city currently and the prospect of a 7am metro north ride back post club was seeming not apt as an activity for 40 year olds …

anyways enjoying this martyn track, seems like he’s an underrated precursor to some of this stuff

Vapor waif (uptown churl), Tuesday, 29 August 2023 15:00 (five months ago) link

I would agree with that, his 3024 label is solid too (and I love his jazz show on NTS).

Bobby Beethoven's (nee Total Freedom) RA mix is really taking me back, in the spirit of this thread:

(also I assume that folk music post was intended for another thread, lol)

50 Favorite Jordans (Jordan), Friday, 8 September 2023 14:49 (five months ago) link

two weeks pass...

This DJ Znobia record from Nyege Nyege is killer, apparently a forefather of kuduro and most of these tracks (which come from the late '90s to the mid '00s) would fit on a brand new Principe release.

Love this track from the new DJ JM EP on Nervous Horizon

Also loving that 96 Back two-tracker on Local Action that I posted to the bobbins thread.

50 Favorite Jordans (Jordan), Tuesday, 26 September 2023 19:59 (four months ago) link

Still haven't fully digested this 14 track record (!) from Loppy B on Decisions but it's cool

50 Favorite Jordans (Jordan), Tuesday, 26 September 2023 20:00 (four months ago) link

borderline to include on this thread, but man, the second track on the new overmono LP is just nuts. Deserves some sort of award for Ableton mastery or something. Dislike the rest of the album though (this is EP music!)

Wow, 2 huge blown-out bangers here:

Maloca and Hihats in Trees have both been really killing it:

Love this new Barker EP (complete with kick drums!)

New Lukid LP that's more of an ambient record, but really nice:

Lamin Fofana EP on The Trilogy Tapes:

I searched this time (lol), and thought it worth noting that ZULI released a record this year on Nashazphone— it's a "live" set but really it's just him doing a live set in his studio. Good shit!!

also digging the barker ep

barker would sound incredible on a huge system

ꙮ (map), Friday, 6 October 2023 22:01 (four months ago) link

first track is legit as good as autechre but the funkiness is .. something, airier or cleaner maybe

ꙮ (map), Friday, 6 October 2023 22:04 (four months ago) link

ooh nice need to check out that live set

I’ve been checking out a bunch of music (and this thread is a great help) but I realized over the last few years that I’d leaned on some friends to guide me through events/festivals and then I’d be hyped about a good dj set or performance

.. looping back around to my point, zuli djing in 2019 was great

the Barker is so good. i listened to the Lamin Fofana earlier and feel i need to listen again but really dug his contribution to this -

stirmonster, Saturday, 7 October 2023 00:34 (four months ago) link

ok I’m going in circles now but I first started listening to Barker after I shazamed a track that was playing in the pre-show music over the system at one of the last two shows I went to in March 2020!

Oh yeah that Beatrice Dillon/LF/Senegalese drumming record is crazy, I need to give that some more listens.

Btw I know I've been overposting it and it's not a club record, but my record was the previous release on TTT and we're just very proud of it:
